there is a light that never goes out

as jae laid there in the black-haired boy's bed with his eyes closed, feeling his familiar fingers gently trace the curves of his face, he felt at peace.

for the first time since he had seen the black-haired boy and felt the aura he carried with him. smelled the smoke his lungs gulped like black water. heard the muffled music blasting through his walk-man. seen him breathe in the life he lived. johnny relaxed jae and let him breathe unlike the suffocating life he'd previously lived.

johnny's breath fanned out gently across his face, smelling of smoke. the younger mentally rolled his eyes, wondering how the boy could smoke so early in the morning. but the way his collarbones pressed against his pale skin made jae wonder if that's all he had in the morning.

jae's eyes fluttered open, seeing the black-haired boy in front of him. he smiled softly. it was such a strange feeling, coming from hating the boy to laying in his bed.

jae's thoughts fell back to last night and the way his lips had touched every part of his flesh. he remembered how his nails had dug in between the boy's shoulder blades and how the blood from his lips had tasted against his tongue from how hard he'd bit them and how the boy's hands had traced his ribs and throat.

jae blushed underneath the older's gaze, embarrassed at the sounds he had pulled from him the night before. sounds that would echo in his mind for years.

the boy in question rolled over on top of him, hovering over him gently. his bare thighs touched against jae's, the warm flesh sending shivers along his arms. he leaned down and pressed a long kiss to the younger's lips. one that was gentle and slow and unlike the one at the club. johnny's hair brushed against his forehead and the silver necklace that hung around his neck was like ice against jae's chest.

johnny pulled away, resting his forehead against the younger's. he brought his arms down to his elbows against the bed to cradle his head between them.

johnny breathed against his lips, teasing his own against jae's, to which the younger replied by pressing a light kiss against them. one hand came against his forehead, brushing his hair back. johnny looked at him like no other had. he looked at him with adoration and love that made his heart pump out of his chest. he wanted to hold the older's hand in his own and never let go of it. he wanted to kiss the boy until his lungs gave out. he wanted to love him until he could no longer.

"i love you." jae whispered against johnny's lips, looking up into his eyes. the latter's hand which had been caressing his forehead paused for a moment. johnny's eyes closed and he breathed a sigh through his nose.

"i'm sorry," jae spoke quickly. "i didn't mean to--"

"no it's okay," johnny said, pressing another chaste kiss to the younger's lips. he pulled himself off of jae, untangling himself from the sheets. he got up and walked over to the pile of his and johnny's clothes that had been discarded the night before. he slipped on his jeans, leaving the belt dangling from the loops. he picked up a packet of cigarettes which rested on the dresser in the corner. his fingers shakily pulled a single stick out, lit it, and stuck it in his mouth. he took a long drag of it, breathing the smoke out through his nose.

"people don't say that to me, jae," johnny spoke, his jaw clenching and unclenching. jae leaned up on his elbows against the bed, watching the older closely.

"i've never been with someone that would even care enough to say that. everyone i've ever been with never lasted longer than a week or two and if it did it was because they just wanted a good fuck," johnny spoke. "i've been so used to sleeping with women and men for fucking money or cigarettes or even food, sometimes. i told my parents that i was working at a gas station, jae. but no, i've been fucking prostituting myself to pay the goddamn light bill!" he shouted, slamming his fist into the dresser.
