I'm in my room. A few hours after I gave my blood to Carl. God I hope he gets better. I mean he's just a kid.
I'm writing in my journal when Beth walks in.
"Hey baby sis. What are ya doin'" she asks me. I close my journal, so she can't read it. I don't know why. I don't write anything I don't want people to see, but it's just personal to me.
"Just writing Beth." I answer her. She nods.
"How are you doing?"
"What do ya mean?"
"Well I mean you have been really worried for that Carl kid. I mean I never thought in a million years I'd see Mackenzie Greene volunteering to give somebody blood." She says, and I laugh.
"Yeah, I know. I don't know why I want to help him so bad though." I say. I look up at Beth and she is giving me a knowing look. I get confused,"What?"
"I think you like him." She says in a teasing voice. I scoff and look at her in disbelief.
"How am I supposed to like him when the only times he's been awake, he was screaming and having a seizure?" I said and rolled my eyes.
"I'm not sure. But, you do seem to care about him already." She nudged my shoulder," Plus, I think y'all would be really cute."
I just push Beth a little ,playfully. I shake my head and giggle. We lay back on my bed and look up at the glow in the dark stars my dad put on the ceiling for me when I was very little
"Can you sing something Beth?" I ask after a little bit. She looks at me.
"Why are you upset about something?" She asks, 'cause usually when I ask her to sing I'm sad.
"No I just wanna hear it." I say after shaking my head. She nods. Then she starts to sing.
Baby blue staring in the window pane
Just counting drops of rain
Wondering if she's got the guts to take it
Running down her dreams in a dirty dress,
Now her heart's a mess
Praying she'll find a way to make it
So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
Searching for a sign in the night even like a lonely string of lights
That'll burn just long enough for you to see it
The road's been long and lonely and you feel like giving up
There's more to this than just the breath you're breathing
So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
On the way down
You won't forget the heavy steps it took to let it go
Close your eyes, count to ten, hold your breath and fly
Keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Fly
Fly
(Fly by Maddie and Tae^)"Thank you Beth, I wish my voice was as pretty as yours." I say complimenting my sister. She smiles at me.
"It is. You just won't use it like I do." She says back. She's right, I have had stage fright my whole life. But, her voice is still way better than mine.
"I guess your right." I say
"You know it, that's not a first either sis." She laughs, I laugh too.
"Beth do you think Otis and that man will get back in time? I don't know why but I do want Carl to be okay."
"I know you do. I do too. And, I hope so. Do you want to go to his room and check on him?" She asks and I nod my head.
We get off my bed and walk towards Carl's room. When we're in the hallway in front of Carl's room I overheard Dad say,
"Your gonna have to make a choice."
Me and Beth walk into the doorway. He's talking to Carl's parents. What choice?
"What are you talking about Dad." I ask. The words just came out of my mouth, I was unable to stop them.
"Wether or not to operate without the equipment." He answers
"But, didn't you say that wouldn't work?" Beth asks daddy, Lori just nods. Like she wants to know the answer too.
"Yes, it would be difficult and risky, but he could still die if we don't. They're taking to long." Daddy says matter-of-factly.
Lori just looks to Rick. He nods his head.
"Do it." Lori says. And that was daddy's cue.
He started to get ready for the operation, and puts Carl on a table. He looks to me.
"Mackenzie I don't want you in here." He tells me. I nod my head and turn to leave. Please don't let him die Dad!
I hear a truck pull up. I run to the window in the room. I see the blue truck that belongs to Otis.
"It's them! It's them daddy!" I yell to my father smiling. Carl's gonna make it I know he will.
I'm sorry I haven't wrote in a bit. I've been busy with school and practices. But I might do a double post. Idrk tho
