"You don't have a car?" I panted, literally crawling up the steps of the house's porch Leilani had drug me to. "I don't need one." Leilani gracefully bounded up the steps, easily bypassing me. "Did we not just not take the exact same walk?" I huffed, making it on to the actual porch and off of the steps. "We did." Pulling her ring of keys out of her front jean pocket Leilani unlocked the top lock before moving on to the lower one.
"Then how in the hell could you say you don't need a car?" "You know Alex-" Leilani opened the door after pulling her keys out "-i'm starting to doubt that you're a wolf." "Fair enough." "I can understand your hesitation with walking in the heels but how and why are you so red in the face from that walk? The toddlers in this pack make that walk with no problem- and get in here before I lock you out." "If you don't have the AC on full blast in there I'm not moving." I called leaning against one of the wooden beams that made up the porch's railing. "Alexandra!" Leilani must have been pretty far into the house because her voice was faint. "It's Alex." I called back "I will drag you into this house by your hair if I have to come back out to get you!" "I'm sweating like a hog right now-" "I know and as gross as it is, I need you in here to help finish up with some things."
"Bring it out to the porch and I'll help." "Do you see any chairs out there? I'm not sitting on any hard wood-" "Unless it's Adonis's?"I grinned to myself, feeling the sweltering heat in my face slightly lessen "-when there's comfortable chairs and couches inside." Leilani suddenly appeared back in the doorway "It's such a beautiful day outside, why not enjoy it?" "47 degrees does not dictate a nice day, now get your ass in here before I make good on my threat and drag you in here by your hair." "It's only 47 degrees? Really!?" "Alex." "No seriously, it's really only 47 degrees?" Maybe it was the hellacious walk from Ms.Christa's house to wherever Leilani had led me to now or maybe it was my naturally elevated body temperature but it did not feel like 47 degrees. "Alex!" Leilani snarled lunging forward causing me to squeal out "Sorry, sorry." as I scurried underneath her reaching arms and over the threshold, into the house. "We really have to get this stuff done before lunch if we're going to get back on schedule." Leilani nudged my leg with one of her feet so she'd have enough room to close the door without hitting me. "The carpets were just cleaned so take your shoes off before you come to the living room." Leilani ordered toeing off her shoes and neatly placed them beside the door.
"Oh my-" Pulling the shirt away from my skin, I jerked on the fabric to allow air down the shirt "-is the heat on or something?" "We're in Antarctica, the heat is almost constantly on."Leilani called back "I'm now sweating like a stuck pig." I complained "Fun fact- pigs actually don't sweat that much so that expression technically means you aren't sweating very much despite the fact it's used to say that you're sweating a lot." Leilani's faint voiced responded. "How does that in anyway relate to the topic at hand?" "It doesn't-" Leilani called "-now if you don't crawl your happy go lucky ass into the living room-without your shoes on- I will come break both of you're legs and drag you into the living room with me." "Violence is never the answer." I called, toeing off each of my shoes choosing not to test her willingness to do me bodily harm. "Violence is always the answer." Leilani sing songed making me grin even as I crawled across the blackish grey shag carpet in the direction of Leilani's melodious voice. "Why are we here?" I huffed falling belly first onto the living room's floor, still burning up from the heinous walk I was forced to take from Ms. Christa's house to wherever the hell I was at the moment. "More Luna training." "Boo." "Hey-" Leilani dropped a stack of manilla folders by my head along with an house phone "- as unhappy as you are about being trained I'm unhappy about doing it but we're both going to do our parts because-" "You'll kick my ass if I don't?" "-, no- well yes- but I was going to say if we don't it won't get done."
"Perhaps you were right." I mused feeling Leilani walk over me "About?" "Violence always being the answer-" flipping over to my back I blankly stared at the ceiling "-, after all things not getting done doesn't bother me in the slightest but the threat of you kicking my ass inspires me to want to get shit done." "Glad to provide a means of motivation for you. Now pick up one of the folders I put in front of you before I have to kick my own ass for not accomplishing any pack business before lunch." "Where are we anyway, another community center or something?"
