Kim Taehyung, a man of wealth and spoiled richness. He had everything handed to him on a golden platter, everything except one. All that the man wanted was someone who loved him, not for his looks, not for his money, but for who he really is. Unfortunately, he had quite a reputation for sleeping with many women and seducing them to bed, then leaving them the morning after. Those who have had the 'pleasure' to experience a night with him spread rumors, making every woman lust the millionaire. He paid them no mind, focusing on his job and acting like he didn't give a shit about them.
Choi Y/n was a girl born in a well-established family. They weren't rich, in a sense, but they were far from the poor end of the line. Although these factors are what Y/n grew up with, she was known to be kind-hearted and gentle, seeing the good in everyone. She was the pride of the Choi family who were about to be in business with Kim Taehyung's father.
They were never forced into anything, they fell in love themselves. Taehyung was ecstatic to find someone who liked him for him, and not the man he was portrayed as. Y/n was happy, she couldn't believe that the Kim Taehyung was with her. She should've known that he wouldn't stay with her that long, no matter how much she liked him for who we was. He viewed girls as toys, thinking that he could throw them away when he got bored. The man thought that he was ready for love, he thought he knew how to love, but he wasn't. Not in a million years.
It was at a party when Taehyung had his own cards played against him. Sagong Myeon, one of his father's friends' daughter introduced herself to him in a very peculiar way. She had pushed her breasts up, sticking her ass out and pouting her lips. He had wanted to tell her that she looked ridiculous, but when she was offering herself up to him like that, he knew he couldn't pass. Y/n never flickered across his mind, not once when bed sheets were gripped hard, and vocal music filled the bedroom. He completely forgot about her existence.
The morning after, Taehyung woke up, body close with another. The unfamiliar blonde hair was different from the usual h/c hair that Y/n sported. He pondered for a bit, until he remembered last night's activities. He froze, guilt flying high. What would happen if Y/n found out? Surely she would leave him.
Taehyung decided to come clean later that afternoon, spilling everything to her. She listened, her eyes glazed over, and stayed quiet long after he was done confessing. The man waited for her reaction, fearing the worse. What he didn't expect was Y/n hugging him, telling him it was okay and that he was only drunk. He nodded along dumbly, not believing the fact that it was okay.
With that one experience, Taehyung realized that he could pretty much get away with anything he did. He drank himself stupid, slept with many girls and got into many fights. He didn't realize that when he came home from the bar after a scuffle, the sight of him bleeding would make Y/n's heart break. In this relationship, he no longer cared about how she felt.
It was only one night when he came back from work, tie loose with a lipstick imprint on his once pristine white shirt. Y/n was waiting, and when she spied the mark, nothing flashed in her eyes. In fact, they were dull and dark, almost lifeless.
What Taehyung didn't realize was that he was Y/n's lifeline. He was the sun to her moon, the light in her darkness. He knew that she was kind, lenient and forgiving, looking past other people's mistakes, and he took advantage of that. That night, Y/n had said with an empty voice. We should break up Tae. Those words echoed in his head, and it took his alcohol-idled brain to process what she was saying. "Break up?" He repeated, not believing his ears. She had nodded, eyes downcast and not meeting his gaze.
"Tae, listen. You and I both know that this isn't working out, and it will never work out. Every night, it kills me when you come home wasted, hurt and bleeding. I don't even care about the fact that you're sleeping with other girls!" He had opened his mouth to ask why, but she beat him to it. "I don't own you, Kim Taehyung. If you wanted to sleep with other girls, if you thought I wasn't good enough for you, then go ahead. But don't come here looking like someone just ran you over with their car. You might not care about yourself, but I do." It had been silent, nothing but the sound of their breathing. He mustered up his courage and looked at her, tears filling his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you like that-" Y/n shook her head, her body slumping. "Yes you did Tae, you knew it would hurt me, and you knew that I wouldn't leave you because I loved you too much." His breath hitched, knowing full well that she was right. "I'm still sorry." He'd whispered, voice breaking. Maybe he didn't know then, but her leaving him would leave a great big hole in his heart. She said nothing, only walking up to him and giving him a brief hug, then going upstairs. She came back later, with her luggages in tow. No words were exchanged between them as they looked at each other for the last time. They had only gazed at each other with unknown emotions swirling in their eyes. He watched as she backed her car out of the driveway and continued watching even though she was long gone.
He asked her friends where she went, and they told him that Y/n went overseas to America. They said that they weren't sure if she'd be coming back or not. Now, Taehyung walked by the beach, feet sinking into the warm, wet sand. He regrets the day he let her go, the day when he first slept with another woman. Had he not done that, he could've had her in his arms. Maybe if he didn't commit his unfaithful deeds, they could be together and happy, not oceans apart.
