You Deserve It

You were in the hospital, sitting silently besides Coco's comatosed body, unable to move yourself out of fear and worry. People from around your apartment came once they heard you scream for once in your life and got her out of there. After Coco was taken away, you explained what had happened and they also sent you into the hospital to deal with your depression and suicidal tendencies. You didn't want to, but you had no other choice, you just ruined Coco's life again.

Right now, you were able to take a small break from your anti-depression sessions and visit Coco's body. You pushed away some of her hair and tears began to fill your eyes. You had no idea why she would do this, but she saved you. Why would she save you? You didn't deserve to be saved. You just...you just wished the positions were flipped. You felt a hand go onto your shoulder and looked up and gasped a bit at seeing Yatsuhashi, Velvet and Fox all standing here. Yatsu then spoke sign to you.

Yatsuhashi: It's ok. Do not blame yourself for this.

More tears swelled in your eyes. Velvet walked over and hugged you, letting the tears hit her clothes. After the emotional breakdown you suffered from was over, you were called back into your room and continued therapy. This pattern repeated itself for a few more days until you were finally released from the hospital and sent home. However, that didn't stop you from wanting to see Coco again.

You would stand outside the hospital, mentally hyping yourself up only to go to where her room was and completely chickened out. What if she saw you and blamed you for all of this? What if she was always awake and wanted to sock you in the nose for the pain you caused her. But you still went and brought little baskets in case she woke up. You also began to take a few other notes just so she would have them available for her after she awoke.

It was still destroying you, seeing her like this. Coco never deserved any of this. She was a jerk back twelve years ago but she changed now. She liked hanging out with you. She liked doing the things you loved to do. She was...amazing. In every sense of the word. After two weeks, the doctors said for you just to stay out and stop wasting your time there. So, you did. You stayed out and waited by the hospital entrance, waiting for her day after day while you could.

It was weird, yes, but you were going to see her again. You just hoped she could forgive you for all you had done. After every day you would spend there, you would talk a small walk back to the bullhead docks and stop at a small bridge and watch the fish swim by. You wished you were like them, not a care in the world. But life is never lucky, is it? Unknown to you though, this night would be different.

The rest of Team CFVY had visited her that day and gotten an update from doctors. It was still unknown when she would wake up but she was in a nice, stable condition. Your teammates also had you well fed to keep your strength up and keep you busy. But it was still an effort for the day. After classes were over, you were able to sneak the sight of Coco before the hospital ordered you out.  Just before you walked out, you saw Sapphire walk down towards Coco's room.  She glared at you and continued onward. 

You were walking home and stopped by the bridge and began to hang out. You started to have similar thoughts as to before.  About killing yourself here and now.  Then just thinking about Sapphire and Opal.  Man, what would they have said? You sucked a tear back into your eye.  

Back at the hospital, Coco woke up, shooting her head up and reaching out. She then saw she was in the hospital and removed her gear and began to limp out of the place. Before she could get up, Sapphire rushed over to her and pushed her back dow.

Sapphire: Easy girl. Stop rushing yourself and-

Coco: (Y/N)?!  Where is he?

Sapphire: Hopefully home.  Or maybe-

Coco: You don't know then.

Sapphire shook her head "No".  So, Coco decided to act and quickly.  She hated hospitals and there was no way in hell she was spending the night there no matter what was said and done.  She also hated Sapphire and needed to see you.  She limped out and was going to go all the way back to Beacon if she could, despite the protests and threats from Sapphire. She had to cross a small bridge to get to the shipyard but when she did, she saw you standing there.

You had turned to face her and utter shock was on your faces. You both walked up to one another, nothing but growing tears in your eyes. You then just did the only thing you could, you two hugged one another and fell to the ground, letting all the tears out of your systems. After a little bit, you removed yourselves from one another and just looked at each other. You then spoke to her in sign.

"I'm sorry! I'm a terrible person and you deserve so much better friends. I ruined everything!"

Coco: No! I ruined it. I bullied you and made you move out. It's my fault.

You sighed and took in a deep breath.

(Y/N): I'm sorry.

Your voice was demented, you knew that. You expected Coco to laugh or make fun of you, but she put your arms down and hugged you. You slowly hugged back and soon separated.

Coco: (Y/N)...I guess we're both screw ups. I know there's no way to convince you otherwise...nor can you convince me.

"So...let's be screwups together then?"

Coco: It still is my fault. I never should have bullied you. I never should have come back into your life. I'm sorry.

(Y/N): No. I'm the bad guy. I made everyone hate you. (Tears up a bit) I try to make you happy, to make people like you again but then you get hurt. I'm the worst person alive and I don't deserve to be alive right now.

Coco whipped away your tears so you could see her clearly.

Coco: I shouldn't be alive! I bullied you for months.

"That was years ago! Don't let that stop you!"

Coco: Then don't let your past stop you!

The two of you completely stopped for a moment and just sat down on the bridge, panting, letting the silence get to you. You sighed and turned to Coco, wanting to talk, but not finding the strength to do so. You raised your hand and got her attention for a moment.

"I need to tell you something."

Coco nodded and you sat up and turned to face her.

(Y/N): I love you.

Coco didn't respond right away, just letting that sink in for her. She took a deep breath, utterly shocked by what you had confessed to her. She took a deep breath and leaned forward and kissed you, right there and then. This was your first kiss and you had no idea how to react to it. You felt your mind explode and passion erupted from it. You leaned into her and returned the kiss.

Finally, the need for air became to great and you two pulled apart. You both looked back at one another, blushes on your faces. Coco was the first of you to smile and then you smiled shortly afterwards.

Coco: You deserved that.

You obviously couldn't understand what Coco had just said, but she nor you cared. She kissed you again and the two of you got up and walked off back to Beacon...hand in hand.
