Emma's wedding dress above!
Hurt. Unimaginable hurt.
I came here. I had sex with him. And he leaves me a note. I honestly don't know what I thought was going to happen. You're so stupid, Emma.
Trudging through the rain, I had to be in the building in 30 minutes to start getting ready for my own damn wedding. I'm such an idiot. Jeff has told me from the start of Freshman year that he never had feelings.....Max has loved me. It's time to push Jeff out of my life and focus on Max. After all, today is our wedding day.
Tears threaten to spill as I walk my way up the grand steps going into the church on Broadway. It costs a fortune but the brownish brick wall where the alter is is worth every penny.
Inside the church was a farmhouse style elegant look. It looks like Joanna Gaines herself designed the inside. The pink and cream flowers filled the church, I look around at the busy worker bees getting the church "Wedding ready."
"Emma!! Where the hell have you been?" My maid of honor, Meg shouted while whispering the word hell.
She grabbed my elbow and dragged me up to the bridal room. She closed the door behind her and she leaned against the door trapping me in.
"Please, please, please tell me you did not go see Alex." Her face scrunched up and eyes closed, like she was praying.
Internally rolling my eyes, "Of course I did. He is a drug and I got stupid enough to stay addicted." Looking up to the ceiling blinking back the tears.
"Em, I'm so sorry. What did he say to you?" She quickly came to my aid.
I handed her the note that I forgot was clinched in my hands. "We." Sob, "had sex." Sob, "And this is what he left." Sob, "before he left the room." Sob.
She read the words while smoothing my hair.
"What an asshat." Meg has hated Jeff from day one. She always thought I gave him much more credit then what he deserved. She thinks that Jeff only started trying to get my attention after Max started to like me. They ran in the same crew but were never very close.
"Let's get you ready to spend your life with Max. He is gonna treat you right, Em. You just wait and see. Forget Jeff. Bump that guy!"
A slight knock on the door and the whole team of people to put me in my dress and get me ready came flooding in.
2 hours later
I stood in front of the mirror in awe of the way I looked. The dress was perfect, the hair and make up were just the same.
"Wow." My mother blinked back tears. "You look stunning." She looked beautiful too. She hadn't aged a bit and continues to get compliments on how she looks like my sister. She really was beautiful. Today, she was giving away her only daughter to someone who was perfect in every way.
Max really was perfect. He cared for me and has loved me for a long time. In time, I will be able to give him the same satisfaction. I will love him until my last breath as long as he loves me.
As if she read my thoughts, Meg ushered my mom out and handed me my bouquet of pink and cream posies with baby's breath. "Alright, are you ready to become a Mrs.?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Emotions that I wasn't aware I was feeling crept up in my neck as I was walking down the long hallway to the entrance of the chapel.
I take what feels like 7 deep breaths before the double doors are open. My dad clutched my arm assuring me that I will be ok.
Everyone stands up as I enter the room, their eyes are tracking me. I see a few jealous girls from high school on Max's side of the chapel. I turn to my side of the room smiling and my eyes lock onto a devilishly handsome man, Jeff.
He gave me a fake smile and I looked away. I was supposed to be getting the asshat out of my head and he dares to show up here. I took his note this morning as a rejection to everything that revolves around me, so why was he at my wedding?
I look now to the end of the aisle and lock eyes with my groom. Max. He was looking so sexy, guilt suddenly found its way to my stomach. My stomach turned in response and I stopped.
All eyes were on me as I let the pain go away.
Cramps. I'm about to get my period and hoping it waits a few more days so I can try to enjoy my honeymoon.
Max looks at me concerned and I gave him a reassuring smile and nod.
Max takes my hand and runs his thumb down it as he mouths "I love you."
I mouth it back, guilty, guilty, guilty. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
The reverend started the ceremony with the traditional, "If anyone has a reason these two should not be wed, stand up or forever hold your peace."
I look around the room. Green eyes, where are his green eyes? I lock onto them, he shakes his head, no.
The tears threaten and I look at Meg, she is giving him the death glare. Seriously, if looks could kill Jeff would already be in a body bag.
The vows blurred together, rings were exchanged.
"I do." Max announced
"I do." My voice was distant.
