striding into school this morning, someone catches my eye. she's turned slightly and facing her locker. i know i've seen her somewhere but i try not to stare too much.

the honey-colored haired girl adjusts her messenger bag and before i have the time to look away, her cold eyes meet mine. i've never seen such a familiar shade of green.

in a matter of seconds, our gaze was broken but, one memory seems to stand out to me now.

"it's obvious that you're with my brother and i don't know what the hell he sees in you, but i don't think you understand the type of things he's capable of. he needs someone who will hang around and be patient no matter what happens."

levi. levi clifford. i used to feel as if levi knew more about myself than i ever will. she was always right about how much i actually understood about michael. and how he deserved better.

once i reached the general vicinity of levi's locker i tried forcing the word "hello" out, but there was nothing but silence. before passing completely by her, the flowery scented girl placed a tiny, folded paper in the palm of my hand. delicately, i started to open it but she warned me about letting anyone see it, as she wiped away a single tear.

it read "meet me by water fountain 12:00" with michael's name signed barely legible on the bottom.

"he wanted to give that to you. the day of the...incident. he did always care about you. i was just too busy mourning his absence that i wasn't able to see that. he loved you, luke.", levi choked out.

he loved you, rang in my head.

"i never even showed him how much i love him."

levi rests her hand on my shoulder as warm gesture and breaks off to class.

"he loved you"
