He and Clawdeen hadn't ceased in their yelling. Nearly every moment they were in vicinity a fierce argument sprang up between the two that only their parents could curb. They were fights filled with harsh insults and flying spittle and puffed chests and they both knew that was a dangerous thing to have in a werewolf environment, especially as teenagers when their hormones hadn't completely settled. They were so quick to anger, which was the main thing that their wolves drew on, creating a dangerous mix. There'd been too many times when Clawdeen had almost flown off the handle, only to be subdued by their father, Clawrk, biting her on the neck, turning her limp.
Clawd had been chewed out too, for he was the older one and should be able to control himself better, but he just couldn't help it. He never thought that Clawdeen could become so bratty and self-entitled, and the hurt he still felt from the broken relationship with Draculaura didn't help in the slightest.
The vampire had refused to even spare a glance in his direction since they'd gotten back from Transylvania over a week ago. He saw her often - in the halls, during lunch, and even in one of his classes, but she always steadfastly kept her back to him. He'd tried to apologize, but her words had been so cold and clipped and her disposition had seemed so stoic, something that made his heart wither inside his chest. Draculaura had always been such a sunny person, but after the death of her uncle she'd become so subdued, and that was nearly double in his presence. Seeing her so unhappy made something unpleasant stir in his chest, but the fact that she no longer wanted to even talk to him hurt even more.
Ever since that night at the diner he'd felt such a strong connection with her, like a string constantly tugging to pull him closer to her. She'd been so understanding, so caring, so kind, and they meshed so well together. Never did they have an awkward moment. They spoke about everything and anything under the sun, from the funny comedy special the night before to how they truly felt about normies. He told her things he'd never told anyone else and he knew that she'd done the same with him. Despite the few days they had become so close, each night was filled with late night conversations that ran into the early morning, and knowing glances, and fuck, he just missed her so much.
He missed the way she trailed her fingers soothingly down his arm to calm him down whenever he got too heated. He missed the way that she fit so perfectly against his side as his arm draped over her shoulders. He missed the way those large lavender eyes would look up at him so understandingly whenever he needed to vent, never filled with judgement. She was so perfect for him - how could he have stopped himself from falling for her?
He ran a hand through his hair, angrily gripping the strands. Of course though, their relationship was shot now, and Clawdeen certainly wasn't helping matters.
He wanted to make things up with her. To truly tell her how sorry he was for how he'd acted outside of the Chinese buffet, but Clawdeen's constant jeering and glares and the stupid, factless rumors that she continued to spread (that no one besides Torelai and her possy seemed to pander to, thank Selene - not even the Daily Gossip had posted her baseless claims) seemed to have put Draculaura off him indefinitely.
He sighed as he tugged on a shirt, contemplating whether or not to put on his varsity jacket before deciding to leave it hanging in his closet. Draculaura had sent it back to him using Howleen (the only Wolf in school that she seemed not to have a problem with now) as a messenger and damn, getting the jacket back, without even a note or anything, just his little sister's sympathetic gaze, hurt like nothing else.
The house was loud as he left his room. The triplets were playing one of their video games in the living room, and it sounded like they had it on full blast. Clawdeen was pounding on Howleen's door, yelling something about a brush, and he snorted as he noticed his father sitting at the dining room table rubbing his temples. If anything, his dad should be lucky that the youngest three Wolf siblings were staying with their grandparents for another few days or else the noise level would've ramped up considerably.
