(Feel free to imagine how Grace ((the main character)) looks from the descriptions in the story, but incase you wanted to know what I imagined her to look like, I left a picture of Eleanor Calder on the side because that's what I kind of imagined her to look like! Anyway, enjoy the story, and remember to vote and comment if you like it ^-^)
Grace's P.O.V
"Grace!"
I groaned and turned over in bed, not wanting to get up.
"Graaaaaaace!" I heard a familiar voice shout my name.
I stretched and rubbed my eyes.
"Grace wake up already!" My eyes snapped open and I jumped slightly as I saw my little sister, who was 15, burst into my room with a grin on her face.
"What is it, Em?" I groaned, smoothing my hair from my face as I looked at her standing in the doorway. She ran excitedly towards me, her sandy coloured hair falling messily around her small face as she grabbed my shoulders and shook them slightly. "We're going to Summer In The City! That YouTube convention! I'm gonna meet all my idols!" She squealed.
"Okay, okay stop fangirling." I laughed, sitting up. I was 21 and I lived in a flat by myself in Central London. My sister, Emily was staying with me for a couple of weeks because it was summer break for her and our parents had decided to go on holiday to America and ditch her. Our mum and dad were both lawyers, who were always working and basically swimming in money. Mum was always giving me loads of money, but I hated taking it, I wanted to earn my own money but I had recently dropped out of collage and was still trying to find a permanent job.
Emily grabbed my hand and tried to help me up, out of bed because I was still half asleep.
"Ugh five more minutes..." I trailed off, flopping back down onto my memory foam mattress.
Emily laughed, laying down next to me, "C'mon you lazy bitch we have vloggers to meet."
"Rude." I laughed, shoving a pillow in her face.
Despite our age gap of 6 years, Emily and I got on really well. She was just as sarcastic as I was, we both loved the same TV shows like Doctor Who and Sherlock, we were both obsessed with anime and most importantly, we loved pizza. Plus we were both internet addicts, Em loved YouTube, I loved Tumblr. Since our parents were always working and away, we had spent mostly every day together growing up until I moved out.
"Seriously though, Grace, we need to start getting ready, the first meet and greet that I want to go to is at 12:30. And we need to get there early so we get a good spot in the line." She smiled at me, her dark but vibrant blue eyes wide as she waited for my response.
I sat up and looked at my iPhone, it was 9:30am. "Okay then. We have ages to get ready so we won't be in a massive rush when we need to leave."
Em got to her feet, grinning with her perfectly straight teeth, "I'm so excited!" She clapped her hands slightly and paced out of my room, probably to go and pick her outfit.
"Em?" I shouted as soon as she had left.
"Yeah?" She swung around and peeked in my room again.
"Who are we meeting first?" I asked out of interest. As a fellow person of the internet, I knew who most of the people she blabbed on about all of the time were. Especially if they were big on Tumblr too like Tyler Oakley for example who I was a massive fan of.
"Oh- uhum..." She disappeared for a second as she went to grab her iPhone, where she probably had a schedule of Summer In The City written down. Emily had always had the worst memory ever, so she always set reminders and stuff on her phone to try and be organised.
"12:30..." She scrolled for a second then stopped. "Ah here it is: 12:30 -danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil."
"Okay then." I smiled at her and she left to go and get ready. Dan and Phil. They we're big on Tumblr too, I had heard loads about them and I was sure I followed their blogs and seen a couple of videos or something.
This wasn't about me anyway, it didn't really matter if I knew them or not. These people were Emily's idols and I knew how much today meant to her.
I finally got out of bed and dragged myself into the shower. Afterward, I wrapped myself in a warm towel and sauntered back into my room. I towel dried my hair as much as I could, then flipped my head upside down and dried it straight using a hair dryer. I got dressed into some black leggings and a white button up shirt, I also grabbed a denim jacket from my wardrobe to take with me incase I needed it. I brushed my long brown hair out, spraying sea salt spray through it, to give it a beach kind of look. You could tell I was a Tumblr girl.
I went with minimal makeup; concealer, bronzer, blush, a little eyeliner, and mascara. I never wore foundation because it felt really heavy on my skin and it just generally didn't suit me. Plus I was blessed with relatively clear skin.
I went and knocked on Emily's door. "Yeah?" I heard her say.
I opened the door to see her looking at four pairs of shoes on her bed.
"Which ones should I wear, Grace I can't decide." She asked, clearly stuck.
"Hmm..." I glanced at her outfit, considering which shoes would look best. Em was wearing black skinny jeans, a black crop top, and a dark red tartan flannel shirt over the top. I pointed at her black Vans, "The Vans."
"Thanks bae," Em said, shoving the other three pairs into the cupboard. I went back to my bedroom to get my white converse to wear. I put them on and looked in the mirror to check my hair. I stared at my reflection for a second, my blue eyes stared back. Emily and I had the same deep blue eyes, that's how people always knew we were sisters. I picked a stylish bag from my wardrobe which matched my outfit, then put my phone and purse in. I decided to put my jacket on, I walked into Em's room, carrying my bag.
"You ready?" I grinned. She glanced up, letting go of a piece of hair she had just been curling.
"Yep I'm done." She switched her curling irons off. She got her bag and put her shoes on. We took a quick selfie which I tweeted as we locked the apartment.
@MyNamesGrace: Summer in the City today with Em, next level stalkers right hereRemember when I said I was a Tumblr girl? Well I have 15,000 followers on my blog because I worked so hard on it. I also had about 5,000 followers on Twitter so I got favourites on my photo of me and Emily straight away.
I checked the time, 11:23am. We had loads of time. I held Em's hand tightly as we crossed a street. This was Central London, it was going to be busy, and I was a protective sister. We hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address to the convention centre.
"Oh no," Emily said, during the taxi ride, looking down at her phone. She looked up, "It's the last day of Summer in the City today because tomorrow has been cancelled."
"Why?" I frowned.
She looked down at her phone again, "It doesn't say," she looked up at me, "That means all the popular YouTubers will do their meet and greets today! I won't be able to meet many of them because the times clash!" She looked sadly at her phone.
"Well who do you want to meet most?"
"Dan and Phil."
"Let's meet them first then, and then try and squeeze into as many other meet and greets as we can, okay?" I said.
Emily looked reassured, "Okay."
The taxi pulled up beside the convention centre, I payed the driver, "Thankyou!" I said cheerily to him. He smiled back as we got out and took in the sight in front of us.
The convention centre was large, but what was more impressive was the amount of people streaming in, all wearing an assortment of band shirts, YouTuber merch, llama hats, onesies, and whiskers. I saw smiles of happiness and giggles of excitement.
"We'd better go in before we loose our places." Em grinned up at me.
I nodded, grinning back, "Let's do this shit."
