Something Strange...

The sounds that filled the night were nothing unusual to Elsa. Police sirens, hip hop music blaring through stereos, doors closing, car engines turning over... They were all music to her ears. The cold air stung her face as she strolled down the street, her breath, a single white cloud forming and dissolving in the air. She quickly shoved her hands in her pockets, smiling softly to herself. She loved the cold, it was her warmth. She loved how everyone came together and smiled and found happiness with each other. Her smile slowly faded at the thought of happiness, however, because she had no family. Her parents died when she was young. All she knew about them was that her father was one of the best police men on the squad and that her mother worked for the CIA. She shook her head and sighed sadly, silently cursing herself for allowing her thoughts to wander back to her parents. "Hey, Elsa!" a perky voice chirped from behind her. She jumped, startled, and wheeled around swiftly on her heel, her fists balled and ready to shoot forward. "What's up?" Merida asked, clearly unfazed by Elsa's defensive stance. Elsa smiled and shook her head slowly, then placed her hand on her chest to steady her breathing. "Phew, hey Merida." she huffs. "God, I'm okay." Merida chuckled and shook her head, swinging her scarlet curls to and fro. "Are you sure?" she asked. "It looks like I nearly gave you a heart attack." she added. Elsa giggled and playfully shoved her friend. "Yeah, I'm cool. Don't worry about it." Elsa reassured. "Cool." Merida replied. A few moments passed between the friends as they continue to stroll, until the sirens of an ambulance followed by a string of police cars broke through the silence. Frightened by the sudden noise, Merida whimpered and cuddled into Elsa's arm. "I hate sirens..." she mumbled miserably. Elsa sighed and relaxed, having tensed when Merida touched her arm. She knew exactly why Merida hated sirens: they were usually a sign of trouble. "And whenever there is trouble, especially in this community, a fatal injury or death is involved." Elsa thought with a grimace. "Hey." Elsa whispered, nudging Merida's shoulder gently. "Hmm?" Merida hummed, glancing upwards to look up at Elsa. Elsa sighed and smiled warmly, hugging Merida closer to her. "Let's head home, hmm?" she suggested. She didn't want Merida to know about or be involved about what she was about to do. It would make her super mad. "And getting THIS red-head mad is basically me signing a death wish." Elsa thought to herself with a light chuckle. Merida sighed and released Elsa's arm slowly. Intertwining her hand with Elsa's in the process, she looked around and shuddered lightly. "O-Okay..." she replied. Luckily, Merida was too frustrated and cold to catch in on Elsa's plan, which surprised  Elsa greatly. "Hey Merida?" Elsa muttered. Merida, who was casting nervous glances from side to side, looked up at Elsa nervously. "Yes, Elsa?" she replied. "Everything is going to be alright." Elsa reassured. "I promise." She draped her arm over Merida's shoulder and pecked her forehead lightly. "Now, c'mon. I know you're dying for a cup of hot cocoa." She giggled. She half-pulled, half-dragged Merida towards her apartment complex, chatting and laughing all the way. "wish didn't have to wear this mask... wish didn't have to lie to you or keep you suspecting." Elsa though gloomily. She didn't like lying to her best friend about her second identity, but it was the only way to keep her safe. "Besides," Elsa thought with a light shrug, "Merida would only cause more trouble, knowing how much of a loud-mouth she is.. " With a tight embrace and a light kiss on the cheek, Elsa waved goodbye to Merida and began walking back to the place where she first heard the sirens.

[A/N: Should I do an Elsa/Merida ship/romance in this story or should I just focus on Elsa/Anna? What do you guys think? >_< Leave comments please! ]
