CH 8-Battle on the Train

Arriving to the train station Laxus immediately tosses his jacket to you, joining in the battle.

"I'm not a coat rack!" You shout in his direction, knowing full well he can't hear you. You watch as the attacker, a girl with pale white hair, dances with a snake to attack the group. She wears a short black leotard with no shoes. Her smile shakes your whole body as she glances towards you, looking right past the oncoming attacks.

Shaking it off you hand Rayna Laxus' coat, rushing in behind him. You shout with a mighty soul dragon punch straight at the woman, but for some reason it doesn't hit. With a bite from her snake you feel your head go light, and fall to the ground.

A hand on your chin your head us forced to turn up, looking the lady in her red eyes,

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the little ghost girl. I bet the boy over there is the lizard." She turned your head, looking at Natsu yours eyes widened. He was on the cement sprawled out with his face in the ground. A worried Lucy stood over him, crying out to wake him up.

"How did you- he's the salamander, how did a snake defeat him?!" You shouted at the woman, your usual pink eyes burning red. She just chuckled and leaned in closer.

"My magic deary, dragon slayers have nothing on me, and it's easy for me to defeat your type." With a deafening blow the lady was toppled over, in front of you stood Laxus.

"Dragon's can't hurt me!" She shouted confused, rubbing her now bruised cheek, looking calmer than she sounded.

Laxus smirked, helping you up with a hand. You faltered and almost fell down but he pulled you close. Embraced in his chest, it felt safe, you felt untouchable, like his confidence flowed into you.

"Well deary, I just punched you, no magic, just brute force." He smiled wider and stared her down, surprised Erza hadn't just taken care of her. She didn't seem too hard.

With a cackle she stood up, with the help of her dark green snake. It seemed to keep changing size and shape everytime she was attacked by a dragon slayer.

"You want to fight? I only need the lizard and the ghost, I don't care about a half-baked lightning bolt." She grinned, the static coming off laxus clearly meant she got to him. He took a step forward loosening his grip on you, stopping from your grasp on his shirt.

"Wait." You look up, an emotion in your eyes to wierd for you to explain. "Let Erza and Gray deal with her. You already saw what happens when a dragon attacks, it'll be easier for them." You falter again, but he catches you and begrudgingly nods, letting Erza rush past.

By this point Gray is basically healed and started throwing ice daggers at the snake and snake lady. Natsu is off the ground but Lucy and Wendy won't let him get up until he's healed more. You squeeze into Laxus tighter feeling his grip once again tighten around your body. He watched the battle but kept looking down at you.

"Let's check on Natsu, Erza is S-class." With the simple words he let's go, staying between you and the unknown wizard. You dash over to your brother, checking his wounds. "Is he going to be okay?" The question directed at Lucy was answered by Wendy.

"He'll live, just a bit longer and he can get up. I don't think any severe damage was taken." Wendy's eyes didn't leave Natsu, clearly she was shook by the witch too. With a shaky voice Lucy continues,

"He was just being an idiot and rushed in again, she beat him up pretty quickly." A tear rolled down her face as she looked up, with a forced smile. "I just don't know what to do. I don't want to leave Natsu, but I can't stand to not help Erza and Gray fight..."

You nod and look back at the fight, Erza had on her Heaven's wheel armor. Gray continued to make dangerous ice make creations, but nothing worked. No matter what the witch was hit with she just bounced back, her wounds magically healing.

"It's fine, I'll stay by Natsu, you join the fight. You'll do more damage than me." You look to lucy and nodded to the battle, encouraging her to go on. Laxus was still standing guard in front of the small group, obviously itching to fight.

Wiping away her tears Lucy nods and runs to help the fight, summoning Loke immediately. He quickly grasps the situation and adds his own magic to the onslaught.

With a tear you turn your attention back to Natsu, taking a shaky breath. Next to you Wendy collapsed, reaching her limit,

"I can't go on any longer, I did my best." You place your hand on her shoulder and thank her, "I know, I can't thank you enough for healing my brother." You suddenly remember the exceeds, where were they? Usually Rayna would be by your side, and Happy never leaves Natsu...
