I'm back and recovering emotionally. I just also kinda had something to share. I write poetry as well, so if you're on Twitter, please go follow The Dark Poet Rises, or poet_rises.
Thanks, love y'all.
Here's your chapter! If I can get 35 votes on this, I'll be posting a bonus chapter (*cough* go tell your fandom buddies *cough*).
Jaemin and Jeno stood outside the door, listening to Chenle and Renjun. They almost fell as Chenle walked out, shooting them a dirty look.
He shut the door. "Don't you dare," he said, "go in there." His voice was so flat it was scary.
Jaemin nodded and they started to walk away, but Chenle grabbed his arm and stopped him.
"You hurt him one more time, I swear I'm taking them both to my house and they're living with me." As Jaemin's eyes widened, he said, "You know I can do it, Jaemin."
"No, you can't," Jeno said. "Renjun wouldn't leave."
Chenle's eyebrows lowered. "Are you blind?" His voice rose. "You are an actual detriment to his health. He's hurting himself more than he's being hurt by the h-" he stopped himself before he could say anything.
"By what?" Jaemin asked.
"That's not mine to say, but here's the thing- he'd die before he tells you."
Chenle thought back to all the signs. The blood on his lips, the coughing, Jisung's worrying, the inexplicable flower petals all over his room and scattered everywhere he went. It was so obvious when you already knew about the disease.
He also knew that Renjun loved them too much to tell them.
"Listen," he said to them, "there's something wrong here. If the two of you are too blind to see it, that's not my problem." He looked down, and then back at Jaemin. "But if I see that he's only getting worse, I'm taking both him and Jisung- if they agree to it." He paused.
"And honestly, even if Renjun doesn't agree, Jisung would convince him."
Jeno and Jaemin looked at each other. They both knew he was right. Renjun would do anything for Jisung.
Chenle huffed and walked past them into the living room. "Think about it," he called back.
Jaemin stood in the middle of the hall with his head down. Jeno moved closer to him and cupped his face in his hands.
"It's okay, Jaemin."
Jaemin turned the other way. "No, it really isn't." His voice cracked, and let out a shuddering gasp. "It's my fault."
Jeno put his arms around him. "No, Jaemin, baby, it's not your fault." He turned Jaemin around to face him and gently wiped a tear from underneath his eye.
"It's not your fault, okay?"
Jaemin nodded, wiping his tears on his sleeve. "Okay, but I don't think this would have happened if-"
Jeno grabbed his hands. "They're Renjun's feelings, Nana. You can't control them, I can't control them, and I'm pretty sure that Renjun can't control them, either. All we can do is help him get through it, and now the best way to do that is to keep a little distance from him."
Jaemin shrugged. "I feel like he could probably use a hug right now."
Jeno sighed. "That's not the point, Jaemin."
"Then what is the point?"
"We need to leave him alone, okay?"
Jaemin pouted, then nodded.
Jeno cupped Jaemin's face and looked into his eyes. "So you're fine?"
"I'm fine."
Liar.
I swear it gets better. 35 votes, fluffy bonus chapter.
Get to work, my readers.
