𝐑𝐢𝐨𝐭. [𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚞𝚎𝚍]

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ғɪᴠᴇ.

River sat in the sand, blood on his hands, shaking so hard that he didn't know what to do with himself. He couldn't hear a thing, he couldn't even see a thing because he was in so much shock and in so much pain that his body managed to stop functioning adequately. He hears Keanu's voice echoing, he felt Keanu shake him and grab at his arms. River looks up and it was nothing but a blur, he blinks slowing and he can only hear the sirens, his heart beating and the sobs of Alicia. "River, River, River." Keanu says clutching his head, hugging him, trying to get him back to reality, trying to get his friend back. He was having a panic attack and didn't know he was. Keanu face was red, blotchy and he hasn't stopped crying when River brought her back the shores "God, River.. Flora, she is.." Keanu couldn't even finish as he hugs his best friend.

River finally came back to reality once he sees the paramedics, taking Flora away but in a little body bag, his eyes trailed and he was mortified, he couldn't believe she was in there. "Wait." He says getting up and they stopped. He sniffles and he pulls back the zipper, she laid there and she was quiet, no more laughter, no more smiles from her. No more kisses from her or no more fighting the monster in her closet.

He zips it back up and he runs his hands through his hair as he walks away, he walks towards Alicia who was holding Yanni while she was knelt down in the sand. She held onto him so tight as if he was gonna leave her, as if he was gonna go like Flora.

The young boy was confused, yet puzzled and his mind couldn't wrap around how his sister who he spent every second with was gone, he wasn't crying or he didn't shed not one tear.

River knelt next to Alicia and she hasn't stopped crying, he has never seen her cry so hard in their entire time of being together, she sobs into River's chest as he held her, she didn't know if she could stop and it seemed so endless to Alicia because she just wanted her baby back.

After an hour, Keanu finally got the couple to go home and he said that he was gonna call around for their family to deliver the news for them because Alicia couldn't even call Heart without sobbing into the phone.

Alicia rubs her stomach as she paced around their bedroom, River sat on the bed and Yanni was asleep in his arms still in their clothes from the party. "Alicia.. sit down to rest." River tells her and she kept walking, she was still crying but she was silent and her silence was so deadly. Trembling and she vomited so many times that her body was getting so tired. "I wanna know what were her last words, what was the last thing she did before she.." Alicia couldn't even finish her sentence, she grabs the trashcan and she began to vomit. River stared at her and his eyes were hurting, vision was fuzzy and his head was pounding, violently.

He gets up, laying Yanni down and he walks over to her and he crouches down next to her and he rubs her back as she finished. She wipes her mouth and she looks up at him with her brown eyes, brown eyes that he could never resist. "She-She said...  I'm a big girl, you don't have to go with me Daddy... you don't gotta worry about me. Before the... the.. wave hit, she turned around at me and she smiled, something she always did and I-and I blinked and she was gone." River mumbles and he wipes his eyes as he sniffles. "I didn't worry about her Alicia because she... she always came back, she would always go into the water and come back up or she would look at the fish as always and come back." River cries and Alicia hugs his arm as she listened to him. "I should have gone with her, it would have never happened, If I could turn back time and tell her no, I would. She would be so sad or mad but I wouldn't care because she would be safe with me and alive. Alicia, please tell me that this isn't a nightmare and I'm laying next you and the twins are gonna wake us up because it's their birthdays and this day is just a dream."

Alicia stares at him and she shakes her head. "It's real River, it's all real."

River lets out an exhale, he looks at her and he shakes his head. "It's all my fault."

Alicia shakes her head as she stares at him, she kisses his cheek. "It's not your fault." She assured him and River shake his head because it was, he believed that it was. "I'm.. gonna go on a walk." River says and Alicia clutches his arm, she looks into his eyes and this time she was angry. "River, the last time you went on a walk, you relapsed and you know our number one rule and if you break it, I told you what I would do." Alicia threatened and River pulls his arm away. "I won't, I need to clear my mind." He huffed and Alicia shakes her head as she gets up. "You're gonna leave me by myself?" She questioned and he didn't even answer her, she couldn't believe it because he said he wouldn't and at a time like this he shouldn't.

River walks past her and she steps in front of him, he rubs his face because now he was frustrated. "Alicia, please not right now." He sighed and Alicia crosses her arms. "Are you? I need you and you're gonna just leave, we lost our child for god sakes and I need you to be here with me." Alicia stated and River stares at her, he looks away from her because he couldn't even look at her anymore, all he could see was the guilt in he face and the sadness in her eyes, he promised her that she wouldn't ever feel like that and he failed her as a husband.

"You're sad Alicia, I failed you and I can't even look at you because if I didn't let her go then none of this would happen, this is her blood on my shirt Alicia." River he choked and Alicia clutches his arms and she... forced a smile on her face. "Look, I'm-I'm fine River, I will be fine just sit down and don't leave." Alicia tells him and she was grinning, she forced it but it had him sitting down on the bed and she slips the bloody shirt off of him, the blood stained his skin and she was so horrified but she didn't show it.

"Let's get you in the shower..." Alicia whispered and he nodded as he gets up, she guides him to the bathroom and she turns the shower on, he stripped out of his clothes and he stepped in. Alicia moments later stepped in and she began to bathe the blood off of him. Alicia rubs the towel against his arms and she bites her lip, holding back a sob because if she did then River would lose his mind, he was a fragile man. People would think Alicia was the fragile one but no River was and she protects him from the media and what people had to say because he wasn't taught how to feel about or respond to those situations and Alicia was practically trained as a child but she knows that it was gonna be rough for them.

They finished their shower and River was now laying in Alicia's arms, his hair was brushed back in a ponytail because it was sticking to his face. Yanni was laying next to her and she looks over at him, he was all they had at the moment and she rubbed his cheek, she kisses his cheek and she rubs his hair.

Alicia couldn't even close her eyes. She kept picturing Flora, waving at her and blowing kisses at Alicia because it was the last time she saw her.

This is a filler chapter and I know y'all mad but it's part of the story 👀
