Eddie is awoken by loud yelling, he glances at his watch which reads "7:30" usually he's up by 8. The small boy slowly gets out of bed and carefully steps downstairs to see what's happening. He didn't bother changing out of his soft, matching pyjamas which are covered in little rainbow fish sitting on a soft, baby blue. He tiredly stumbles into the kitchen to find his mother with her face in her hands, clearly furious.
"Are you okay, mommy?" Eddie asks in a gentle voice, he doesn't want to upset her more than she already is. She slowly lifts her face and looks at Eddie with a soft smile.
"Good morning Eddie-bear, i'm alright but I have some stressful news. My mother sinned with a random male she met at a bar and when she was sleeping he took all of her items and now she is stranded in a hotel in the middle of nowhere and needs me to pick her up. As you know, she lives five hours away so I am going to stay with her for a week until she has her life sorted"
Sonia (Eddie's mum) sighs loudly and slowly walks towards him, tightly pulling him into a hug.
"Oh.. oh wow- um, when will you be leaving?" he questions, not exactly knowing how to respond. He doesn't know how he feels about this, it's kind of a relief considering she's always on his back about everything but he is also worried as to how he'll survive.
"I am leaving in an hour, enough time to pack. I'm leaving you $300 for food and any medicines you need" Sonia pulls away from the hug and places a gentle kiss on his forehead before going back to her room.
Eddie runs back upstairs to inform the group chat of this news.
Losers club:
Eddie: hey guys
Stanley: hi
Bill: Hello
Bev: Morning!
Richie: GOOD DUSK MY SMALL FRIEND
Stanley: can't you be normal for a second?
Richie: Normal is my middle name
Stanley: anyways, whats up Eddie?
Eddie: okay so, my mum is going out of town for a week,
let's do something fun
Bev: I would very much like to
Bill: Let's talk more about it at school
Eddie: oh sh**, school
Eddie is now offline
Eddie jumps out of bed again and sorts through his neatly placed clothing, getting out his favourite red shorts, pink polo and knee high socks. He clips on his fanny pack and double check's everything is in it. He always carries his fanny pack with an asthma puffer, pills and anything he needs for an emergency.
Sonia waits at the bottom of the stairs for Eddie to come down and say goodbye. When he finally comes rushing down and immediately gets pulled into yet another tight hug.
"I'm going to miss you Eddie-bear, remember to take your pills and call me every morning and night. Promise?"
"Yes mommy" he rolls his eyes but makes sure she can't see. He pulled away from the hug and runs out the door with his backpack. As he mounts his bike he looks over to see his mum waving him goodbye, he waves back.
"I love you Eddie-bear, don't forget your pills!" she shouts as he starts to ride away.
"I won't. Love you too mommy" He finds it very uncomfortable to still call his mum mommy considering he's sixteen but he can't even imagine Sonia's reaction when he stops.
Eddie rides away as fast as he can, occasionally looking down at his watch to see how late he's going to be. He eventually arrives and quickly locks up his bike, then bolting to class with his entire backpack flailing around. He bursts open the door and rushes to a seat next to Bill.
"S-s-someone knows how to be d-discrete" Bill says teasingly while trying to quiet his laughter.
"Shut it Bill, I was distracted this morning" Eddie snaps back but also giggles. They both sit through English doing as little work as possible without failing.
*bEEP BEEP*
Everybody jumped out of their seats and rushes out of the classroom, eager to get to lunch. Eddie goes to his locker the opposite direction to Bill's. As he is getting his carrot sticks out of his locker he hears a faint yell, as it gets closer he recognises it a bit more.
"GET THE F*** OFF ME YOU MAN CHILD" Eddie starts to turn around before getting slammed into his locker by another body, everything goes blurry and he sees Henry Bowers strutting off. Suddenly Eddie can't breath, somebody laying on him and pure panic rushing through him. He struggles to pull out his asthma puffer before taking a huge breath then becoming calm again. He looks down at the weak body on his lap, soon realising it's Richie.
Richie groans loudly before looking up at the small boy under him.
"Eddie?" He isn't 100% sure who it actually was, but assumed it was Eddie.
"Richie! What happened?" He slides out from under him and uses all his strength to help him stand up. Richie regains his consciousness and Eddie quickly let's go of him.
"Gosh, you scared me. Are you alright? Ugh Bowers is such a dog" Eddie Huffs
"Yeah, i'm fine. Let's go meet everyone else" He gives Eddie a soft smile before walking to the group.
"What took you so long?" Stanley questions them both while putting a bird shaped cracker in his mouth.
"Bowers" Eddie says as he sits down with his carrots.
"Oh y-yeah! L-Let's plan for th-this week" Bill stutters remembering about Eddie's mum being out of town and thought now would be a good time to plan for it.
"Uhh, all I can think of is the Quarry and the library" Ben suggests.
"We are NOT spending my week off and the first week of summer at the library" Eddie scoffs
"My family owns a cabin around a three hour drive from here, we could go there? ALSO, THERE ARE SO MANY BIRDS" Stanley is passionate about birds.
"My uncle has a van we can use" Beverly suggests. Ever since her dad went to jail for abuse she has been living with her uncle and his wife. It's much better than when she lived with her dad.
"I am going to have to keep it a secret from my mum but i'm in" Eddie confirms. Everybody agrees to it.
"Alright, let's leave tomorrow at 9am. Everybody come to my house at 8:30 so we can get ready to leave."
Everybody finishes the rest of their boring school days and goes to their lockers.

This was shorter than expected but hey, first chapter? The next chapter will be short too but the one after will be very much longer.. hopefully.
