She had searched everywhere. First in their suitcases, then the hotel room but she couldn't find anything.

No thermometer, no medicine, no nothing.

Maja let out a frustrated huff. She really needed those right now, but of course she hadn't thought to pack any.

A whimper from the bed snapped her out of her thoughts and she rushed over to Soviet, praying he wasn't getting worse.

He was shivering, teeth nearly clattering. Maja took his hand in hers and gave it a gentle squeeze as she stroked his hot and clammy face with her other hand.

She couldn't help but feel her heart breaking a little at the sight of how ill he looked.

His red flag color was paler with a sheen of sweat covering his skin.
Cheeks flushed in a feverish hue.
His breathing was ragged and congested as well.

"You should've said something..." Of course Maja didn't blame him for getting sick, it could happen to anyone. She just felt sad that he hadn't told her.
She had her suspicions on why, but it didn't make it feel any better knowing that she could probably have prevented it from getting so bad if only she had known.

But that was the least of her worries right now, she needed a thermometer and medicine and she didn't have any.

She didn't want to leave Soviet but it might be the only way.
There was a pharmacy not far from the hotel, if she was fast and efficient enough she would only be gone for maybe 15 minutes.

But what if that was too long? What if he needed her when she was gone and she wasn't there?

But he'd only get worse the longer it took for her to get the medicine he needs.

She had to make a choice.

And she chose to place a new and cold cloth on Soviets forehead, put a glass of water on the table beside the bed and head out to quickly grab some medicine.

"Please don't mess this up..." Maja whispered to herself before she quietly closed the hotel room door behind her.

But it turns out that Maja is good at messing things up.

She really thought she could do this, she knew she needed to do this but it was so hard.

As soon as she made it to the lobby and saw how many people there were she wanted to curl into a ball.

If there were that many people here, she didn't want to imagine how many more there would be outside or even in the pharmacy.

She hadn't even noticed that she had started to hyperventilate before she felt a hand on her shoulder and someone's voice telling her to calm down.

She turned around, ready to tell whoever it was to please leave her alone. Until she saw who it was.

"America?"

"Are you okay? Why aren't you in your hotel room?" America was wearing his sunglasses so it was hard to tell what he was thinking but he sounded genuinely worried.

"I-I need to... get medicine." Maja didn't know why it was hard to say that out loud. Maybe it was because it was embarrassing to admit she hadn't thought about packing it in the first place, or maybe because it was embarrassing that she was having such a hard time getting something so simple.

"Alone?" America sounded a little surprised and Maja nodded.

"I thought you didn't like to go into crowds alone?"

"I don't. It's difficult to go alone." She sighed. She's been working on making her social anxiety better for so many years and she's made progress but she supposed she wasn't as healed as she hoped.
