While getting dressed for the frat party I was starting to regret my choice to go. I mean, I don't even go to our school's frat parties because they are so brutal. The guys act like dicks and think with their dicks. But I'm going to see Carmen's boy and to make a spark happen between them.
After I'm dressed I walk into the living room and see River leaning on the couch dressed in a white t-shirt black jeans and a black leather jacket while looking at his phone with his eyebrows furrowed. He looks like he's going somewhere but as curious as I am I'm not going to ask and get all up in his business. No sir, not today.
"Where are you headed?" He asks looking up from his phone. Welp.
"A frat house. What about you?"
"Right, I heard you talking about it with Malia this afternoon." He says while putting his phone in his pocket. Which, I guess, means he's trying to actually have a conversation with me. What the fuck is happening today?
"Where are you headed?" I ask again not wanting the awkward silence to make an appearance.
"Oh, well I guess I'm going to a frat house too."
"Huh?" I ask confused.
"Malia told me to get dressed and that I was going somewhere with her to and I quote, 'fend off the dirtbags.'" He says making quotation marks with his fingers.
"Oh," I say while pulling my phone out. "That's actually a good idea--" I stopped mid-sentence. "But of course Dean had to wreck his fist when I wasn't asking to be protected," I say, putting my phone away and River smiles. He actually smiles and it's magnificent. It's not fair that he's so visually appealing.
"Yeah, you're going to need protecting." He says looking at me right in the eyes. Before I could respond Malia appears.
"Let's go, children," Malia says while pointing both fingers towards the door.
"Woah. You look too good." I say stopping her.
"Stop," Malia says while acting shy and smiling. "Maybe the whole you trying to talk Carmen up to her guy is a bad idea with you looking like that, babe." She says, pointing her finger up and down at me.
"Oh shut up. If he can't resist me then he's not good enough for our precious Carmen," I say matter-of-factly.
"Are you two done or do you want me to wait in the car?" River asks jokingly.
"Oh, come on Riv, she looks hot," Malia says.
"Yeah, she does." River says while looking straight at Malia and leaning towards her. He had an eyebrow raised and a smirk on his face. I think he said it to get Malia riled up. Maybe as revenge for making him watch the notebook.
"What did you just--" She started, but he just opened the door and held his hand out as if saying, ladies first. "Whatever, but we are talking about this tomorrow," Malia says while pointing her finger in his face before stomping out of the door. I simply walk out and get into the car as quickly as possible.
As soon as we pull up I shoot a text to Carmen. A second later she comes out and to find the three of us standing at River's car. She hugs me first but hugs Malia longer since this is the first time seeing her today.
"Oh my god, how are you still so gorgeous?" She asks Malia.
"You both need to stop complimenting me before I get a big head." We laugh and then Carmen notices River. Who she has met before.
"I didn't know your cousin was coming." She says to Malia.
"He's my bodyguard for tonight. I hate frat guys." She says to Carmen.
