"Yes, I'm verifying Mr Acosta's order... yes... for the Balenciagas... yes..." Jon's voice seemed to be lulling me to sleep. We were still in the bus and his pacing along the small amount of space was just driving me crazy. His own agitation spreading over and affecting me.
I snapped out of my daze with the unfamiliar body that plopped next to me on the couch. Smelling like sandalwood and sugar, every six four inches of Damon seemed absolutely perfect. His arm was sprawled comfortably behind my back, his light brown hair begged to have fingers run through them. He grabbed the remote control and turned on the television.
Jon turned to shoot daggers at Damon for turning on the TV and making noise while he was talking on the phone. He stomped to the bathroom I assumed.
Harmony was asleep in her bunk bed even though it was already one in the afternoon. One of the things I'd been learning was that if you wanted to open the gates of Hell and unleash it's ultimate demon on the Earth, all you had to do was interrupt sweet baby Harmony's sleep. She'd be the grumpiest, most foul person you could get to cross paths with you. Which was why I assumed Jon had probably gone to the bathroom. To avoid the tiny monster's wrath.
I hadn't really spent any time alone with Damon because he seemed to avoid me like the plague. I was overcome with nervousness at the fact that the incredibly boyish anchor of the band would sit next to me willingly and even wrap an arm behind me. It was most definitely peculiar to me.
I stared as his profile, noticing a tiny diamond stud in his ear lobe. Just like Carlyle's. Interesting... contrary to Carlyle who seemed to buzz with energy, calling to him your attention or to his brother whose dark aura and mystery seemed to leave you begging for more, Damon had a homey and comforting feeling to him.
Harmony was right, he did radiate big brother energy. I immediately understood why they called him the anchor of the band. There was something that didn't give any doubt that he had a diplomatic nature. That didn't mean he was the least handsome member, though. In fact, they were all handsome in their own, captivating manner. I was totally digging that boy next-door charm he radiated.
He seemed like just the right person to call when you were in a pinch, or just needed someone to talk to.
"You like cartoons, Athena?" He smiled at me and just that one smile gave one deep sense of belonging. I just felt like he didn't feel the initial mistrust about me anymore.
"Yeah, actually." I grinned back. The bassist seemed surprised. Like he thought I'd give him a hard time. But there was no way. Right now, I was definitely down to have him as my friend.
"Great because, that's basically all I watch. There's a Gravity Falls marathon on Disney right now."
"Gravity Falls?!" Okay, now I was definitely excited!
"You like it?!" He grinned and I took notice of the two adorable dimples in his cheeks. Dimples? They had to have sold their souls to the devil for these looks.
