It was a quiet spring evening. Sumayyah Gardens was preparing tea for the unexpected guest. Upon moving, there had been no visitors or phone calls from anybody. Life was boring. She sighed, pushing the negative emotions away. She still hadn't recovered from the scandal incident. She sighed once again and returned to her waiting guest.

"Get to the point Fatimah. What do you want from us?" Sumayyah asked while standing over her. It was clear that the Wali's were not on speaking terms with Fatimah Abu'Said. She had humiliated them before. It had greatly impacted the family.

Fatimah pretended to enjoy the hostility. She ignored her and sipped the warm tea. After a few more sips, she gently placed it down on the table and crossed her legs. Looking up at her hostess she smiled, "Well things aren't looking good for your daughter."

Sumayyah gritted her teeth and spat, "Of all people I don't want to hear from you!"

Fatimah batted her hands, "Simmer down Wali, or else I just won't help you. Where is Arba? I need you daughter here."

"You will not speak to my daughter before you speak to me Fatimah."

Fatimah sighed, and looked up at her hostess. "Now, I promised myself not to bring up the past. By your nasty attitude, I am forced to speak of the matter. Look Sumayyah I never wanted to marry your older brother. I was against it from the start. It was your family that pressured mine into it. I was depressed. I wanted to run away, to avoid the marriage. No matter how much I tried, no one would listen to me. Somewhere along those horrid years, I met Danial Abu'Said. I fell for him, so hard in fact. So much that I didn't see the man he truly was. I didn't see the alcoholic in him. He gave me that opportunity to escape. So I ran far away. You'll never understand Sumayyah because you married someone you wanted to marry."

Fatimah's story showed Sumayyah a completely difference side to everything. This time she complied and sat down on the sofa as a welcoming gesture. "Very well Fatimah," she whispered kindly, "Go on."

Fatimah smiled, "Thank you for understanding."

"But, you must speak to me first. Besides Arba is not in the right state to listen to whatever you're going to say."

"Very well." Fatimah sighed, "You know that I have a son Umar?"

"That I do." Sumayyah agreed, not liking where this was going. As far as she knew, Umar Abu'Said was an alcoholic just like his father. He was trouble, just like his father.

"I would like to ask for Arba's hand in marriage on behalf of my son."

Sumayyah stood up in shock, "Nonsense! Are you in your right mind Fatimah? Yes, we've lost our status, but we have standards. I will never allow my daughter to suffer by the hands of an alcoholic."

Fatimah sharply interjected, "Don't forget what your daughter is! She's a whore. Don't you get it Sumayyah? Her reputation has been tarnished. She will never marry again, or will never have the chance to regain her honour."

"And your son will only make it worse!"

"My son is an alcoholic and a drug addict, yes. But not many know of him because my family is not important anymore. We live far from the Muslim community Sumayyah, we do not interact with them either. Marrying my son will give her another chance to regain that honour she holds so dear."

"You're mad Fatimah. Nothing changes the fact that he's an alcoholic. I would rather have my daughter never marry than marry him."

Fatimah stood up, gathering her belongings, "Then so be it. Remember this is a chance for Arba." She looked down, her eyes tearful, she croaked, "And only she can save him. He needs her."
