For Pang, Wave had to start with maths from as early as the seventh-grade curriculum. It was really a mystery to how Pang even got into a high school as prestigious as Ritdha in the first place. Wave figured it was luck, like how Pang got into the Gifted class. Every night during the school week at eight o'clock sharp, Wave would knock on Pang's door. He'd have some print outs and past tests with him to help Pang learn maths. As Pang was starting to understand, his grades went up significantly. Wave started helping Pang with subjects other than maths, like Chemistry and Physics. After a month of tutoring, Wave knocked on Pang's door again.
"Hey Wave! Guess what?" Pang said.
Wave didn't say anything. He just looked at Pang, expecting him to say whatever he wanted to say.
"I got a B+ on my last maths test! The teacher even called me to his office to ask if I cheated. I told him I was getting tutoring and he just let me leave. But I got a B+! That's the highest grade I've gotten in maths ever!" Pang rambled. Wave smiled at him, a small smile.
"Good job," Wave complimented.
Pang then did something Wave wasn't expecting. He hugged him. Wave didn't know what to do. He hadn't hugged someone in a really long time. Pang's arms were wrapped around his neck in a firm hold while Wave held his hands by his side, confused. He was about to put his hands on Pang's waist, but Pang pulled back before Wave initiated any contact.
"Shit, I'm sorry. I was just excited. Thanks so much, Wave!"
Wave looked down at Pang's feet. "It's fine."
