There's Something In Your Eyes

I see something in your eyes, but for a second my brain stalls, for no word comes to mind. Then I find it. It bubbles to my lips, but I keep what I now realize hidden with a smile of triumph.

Triumph, because you've finally won your battle; a long, arduous one against evil. Evil so pure it makes tears sprout from your eyes, like a villainous laugh, liquid as it streams down your face time and time again.

Evil so terrifying that all you can ever do is sit in your room, consumed by the never-ending silence that just screams at you. And this evil has a name: Sadness. But then somehow things changed. Something happened. Some unnamed spark ignited deep within you, beneath the sadness.

Those villainous tears, that laughed and taunted with every streak, are now gone; wiped away by a fire that was burning away all the evil. The dark room you sat in, tortured by your thoughts, all alone, is no longer the prison cell in which you were once contained. That room is now glowing, this fire inside you spreading, until all that's left is a dry, beautiful face.

I see something in your eyes, and after a moment, it isn't hard to guess what won in such a battle. One little word, one tiny spark: Love.
