"As you know," Seungcheol started, "Our scouts have retrieved two new members."
Cheers rang throughout the room, the loudest probably came from the slim, skinny one who cheered in a language that wasn't korean- or at least, not a dialect he was familiar with.
"They are Chan," he shifts the focus on the boy to his left, "and Seungkwan." The focus averts to the one on his right.
"Vernon, Mingyu, Samuel. You will be mentoring Seungkwan." Seungcheol called, and the three boys stepped up, shaking Seungkwan's trembling hand. Vernon whispered something to Seungkwan which made him ease up. The three boys stood beside Seungkwan.
"Kei, Soonyoung, Z. The three of you will be mentoring Chan." Seungcheol called again, and Chan realised that Kei was the loudest one from a few minutes ago. He wasn't trembling like Seungkwan, but that's only because he was pretty sure nobody would be rude enough to knock over a disabled person- if he could even call himself that.
"Hi Z." He whispered a greeting, to which Z kindly greeted back, "Hey Dino."
...
"I hope," Seungcheol exclaims with authority, "that you will accept our new members. We are officially a group of seventeen, and with our fallen members watching over us, we will now continue to be so."
Seungcheol stepped down, walking into his office as the tall member that called Chan and Seungkwan cute hurried off into the same room. With long hair and feminine features like his, shouldn't he be cute instead of himself? He didn't think too deep upon the thought, as he looked up to see the three boys looking at him.
"Your first day will be with me," Kei said firmly, "We'll go over basic manoeuvres- I'll get you in shape in no time."
"Your second day," Soonyoung smiled down at him, "will be with me. To fit in, you need to be quick-witted, if you're not who knows what trouble you'll get into."
"Finally, I'll be your third day." Z finished, "Of course, this doesn't mean your training is over- we'll train you as we see fit. My routine will be to help you with first aid. If you've been injured during a raid, you need to be able to take care of yourself before Junhui, Joshua or I get to you, since we may not always be on time."
"Oh.. okay, um.. well.. Can I ask two questions?"
"Sure, ask your second one." Soonyoung replied.
Chan cocks his head in the direction of Kei, "Is your name really Kei?"
Kei laughs, but proceeds to explain, "I'm like Z, but not really. My name is Minghao- Myungho, if you will. But I had a Kermit the Frog phase, so everyone called me Kermit. The joke got old, but the name stuck, so they shortened it. Call me what you'd like."
"Okay, What You'd Like." Chan replied.
"I love this kid already." Soonyoung sighed contently. Kei hits the back of Soonyoung's head playfully.
"Oh, call me Hoshi. Your friendly neighbourhood gunner." Soonyoung told him, "you're awfully short, how old are you?"
"Er.. fifteen, almost sixteen." Chan responded, "I come from the World Above. Why is everything so broken here?"
The three started walking and Chan followed behind closely.
"No idea," Kei said with a chill attitude, "but it would be nice for both worlds to be equally clean,"
"News doesn't spread fast, but there's a disease." Z explains, "Really dangerous, you don't wanna get infected."
"Of course the medic would know." Hoshi chides, but lets him continue.
