New highschool year has just started and it's been a while since I sat down and wrote something. To be clear it's been more than 6 months... Yeah, life has been a rollercoaster over the past few months. Writing just didn't feel right due to the situation I was in. Everything was changing, everything was messed up and there was no clear way to go. You could say I was completely lost.

I still am.

But nobody likes hearing about the reasons behind the lack of updates, everybodys got their own lives and problems to worry about so I'm not here to complain. Wait. Actually thats one of the points of this book. Let's get started then shall we?

College. A place where you'll earn all the important and necessary skills for your future profession. A place of knowledge. A place where you'll decide on your future. Or rather where you'll realize you've made the wrong choice. Ever since I started attending high school four years ago the question about what will I become had lingered in my mind, striking me suddenly at times and making me feel unsure, stressed or even anxious. I am sure many of you will understand the feelings I have as there are many people, even around me, that don't know or can't choose what they want to study.

Even though I don't think any tips can help you decide on what major you want to study, I'm always in for trying all kinds of ways before giving up.  I've gone over this process so many times mainly over the last summer when I was deciding what I wanted to study in college, but Ill go over it once again, step by step, and you can join me.

First steps first, take the career test.

There are many free career tests online, it is up to you which one you decide to try. I advise you to try out more and compare the results you get as they might differ. And just to be clear, these tests only work with the answers you give them, there could have been a mistake made, and they don't take your special skills or passions into consideration so don't be sad if you won't get the result you were expecting.

This time I used the site collegeinfogeek.com

These are my results, now it is time for me to ask myself if I can picture myself in any of these professions

These are my results, now it is time for me to ask myself if I can picture myself in any of these professions. And well definitely not a fitness or information technology, but the other three are okay with me. So I can use them as a guide for my further searching.

The second step is to differ your strengths and weaknesses.

Are you good in memorizing long texts or are you more of a logical person? Or are you like me which means you're average in both of these? If you find yourself in the last group, I have some bad news for you. Your journey to finding the perfect major will be a bit more difficult. Try separating the classes you have taken over your time in high school and choose the ones youve enjoyed the best and youve performed the best. For me, they are history, English, chemistry, IT, French and physics.

What are yours?

Next pretty benefiting thing you could try is talking to older people, either your professors or friends who are already attending college

Luckily, my brother is in a college in the moment so he managed to bring one of his friends over so we could talk about his major which were International relations which I intend on studying.  It is important that you get as much information on the majors before deciding.

Check the situation on the employment market.

As cynical as it may sound, it is rather important that you check the employment market to see which professions are needed nowadays. I've been thinking about studying archaeology, but the market is packed in my country and there is barely any need for new archeologists. Therefore it could be difficult for me to get a job after my studies.

Remember to take breaks in between researching. Youll get easily overwhelmed and might lose your temper. Choosing your major takes time and it is a decision that should be made with a calm mind.

Find out what your friends think.

You are the only person that truly knows you, but getting other peoples opinions can make you think about yourself and future from a different perspective. Ask your friends what they think your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. Ask them what profession they think would suit you. And again don't be sad when you get a demotivating answer. In fact, when I asked my friends nobody said what I wanted to hear, and most of them even chose the professions I could not bear even thinking about.

These are only few tips I've chosen, there are many more that could help you with your decision. Maybe I'll write one more chapter on this topic. For those who are not yet in their last year, focus on your studies and have fun, try new things. And for those who are in the same situation like me, hang in there, and don't stress about it, the decision you make now is not terminal, and if you change your mind, you can always apply for a different major after your first year.

What would you want to study in college? Let me know in the comments or in the DMs.
