Larry looked for his twin on the other side of the stage all while deftly hitting every one of his dance steps perfectly.
Beyoncé belted out another line of 'Run the World', but Laurent was still nowhere to be found. He had missed his entrance cue. Again. And now the concert crowd was suddenly screaming louder.
That could only mean one thing.
Filled with dread, Larry channeled his twin telepathy as hard as he could in an attempt to will Laurent not to do it. But it was too late. Two seconds later Laurent came flying down from the backup singers' platform high above the stage and landed in a full split. The crowd went wild.
Larry, however, was mortified. As soon as they left the stage he ran up to Laurent.
"What's wrong with you, dude? Are you crazy! Do you want to end up in an ambulance?" Larry yelled over the sound of the music still blaring in the arena.
Although he was able to play it off during that night's performance Laurent noticeably had a slight limp. But he simply wiped his face with a towel, tossed it over his shoulder, and kept walking until Larry ran around in front of him and blocked his path.
"Move, Larry!" Laurent growled at his brother and pushed him, but Larry didn't budge.
"Lau, you gotta snap out of this before you really hurt yourself. Don't you care?"
Laurent rolled his eyes and shrugged. No, he didn't care. Ever since he broke up with Gabby he didn't care about too much of anything anymore and it showed.
Lately all he did was stay in the club all night and hole up in his hotel room with his headphones on all day. His already slim body was thinner than usual. And this was the third night in a row he'd ignored the choreography to improvise some reckless, death-defying feat even after Beyoncé warned him against it. It had to stop.
The two argued all the way to their dressing room. Then Laurent tried to close the door on Larry, but Larry managed to squeeze his way through.
Inside, Laurent plopped down at his vanity table visibly exhausted.
Larry pulled up a chair next to him. "Bro, just call her, man. You need to talk to Gabby."
"I can't." Laurent dropped his head and covered his face with his hands. "It's too late. I lost her."
"It's not too late." Larry reassured him not knowing if what he was saying was true or not. It could make sense that Gabby might actually be done with Laurent after the way he had left things with her. But this was no time for logic and truth. This was an emergency.
"Don't think, Lau, just do it. Call her right now and tell her how you feel. Tell her you want her back. Tell her you need her."
Deep down Laurent knew Larry was right, but he couldn't bring himself to admit it. Besides, he told himself, Gabby was better off without him around complicating her life. If he truly cared for her he would have to love her enough to stay away...for good.
He stood up abruptly and stormed angrily out of the room. "Just stay out of my business!"
Larry had no intentions of following those orders though. Instead, he pulled out his phone and sent a 911 text to Patrick and Shauna.
Lau is losing it. We have to do something.
Patrick texted back almost immediately. Yeh Gabby is too. Don't worry. I have an idea.
