Farrah
"There, I'm finally done." I planted my hands on my hips and stared at my half of the dorm, satisfied that it was finally finished.
I'd hung up some art and paintings on my walls, put my knickknacks on my desk and on the shelf above my bed, and I'd put my clothes in my closet. My textbooks and school supplies sat on the shelves on my desk, and I'd put my makeup and skin care products on top of the desk, so I could use it to get ready in the morning.
While I was unpacking my stuff, I'd realized just how bland this dorm was without any decorations, and just how different my style was from Paige's. Her's is much more sophisticated and pretty, with flowers and different shades of pink and white; whereas, mine is much more coastal with lots of coral and pale blues. It made the different halves of the room look like two different worlds, and I liked that about it. It felt more unique, even though it was almost comical how different our styles are.
I decided to take a picture of the whole room and send it to Nyla as I knew she wanted to see my dorm, and it would amuse her just how different the two halves were. So I backed up against the door to get most of the room in the picture. As I snapped the pic, I heard the faint click of the lock just before the door smacked me right in the back of my foot.
"Ow!" I hissed and hopped out of the way of the door on one foot.
"Oh, my gosh! I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" Paige said as she stepped into the room and saw me nursing my foot. Her cheeks were flushed, and she looked genuinely concerned.
"Yeah, I should be fine," I mumbled as I hobbled over to my bed to inspect my foot. It was bruised, but it seemed to be fine. "It's should be fine." I gave her a reassuring smile, and she relaxed.
"Again, I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to," she apologized again.
"You're good. I'm okay." I waved her off as I heard a giggle from behind her. I leaned over to see more people behind her.
Paige glanced back at whoever was giggling, and she turned back to me with a grin. "Oh, right. Farrah, these are my friends, Delia and Arizona."
Paige came into the room and sat on her bed, and her friends came in after her. One's tall with rich olive skin, a slender athletic build, and dark hair and eyes. The other has creamy white skin, a short curvy frame, honey brown hair with blonde highlights, and amber eyes.
Paige pointed at the shorter girl, then the taller one. "That's Delia, and that's Arizona."
Delia gave me a warm smile, and her bright amber eyes sparkled. "Hi, it's so nice to meet you! Farrah, right?"
I nodded and smiled back. "Yup, it's nice to meet you guys."
Arizona plopped down next to Paige. "Please, call me Zona, or Ari. Only teachers, parents, and strangers call me Arizona."
I gave her a teasing grin. "Well, I am a stranger, so doesn't that give me the right to call you Arizona?"
She quirked a brow and tilted her head to the side. "I guess it does..." She turned to Paige with a grin and gestured in my direction. "I like this one. She's already much better than your last roomie."
Paige laughed. "I know. That girl had no sense of humor, and it was clear she didn't like any of us."
Delia sat on Paige's other side and said to me, "Yeah, that girl was so obnoxious when she wasn't clearly ignoring us. And whenever we tried to include her in anything, she would literally turn her nose up at it."
I liked Delia. She was sweet like Paige, and she seemed like the kinda girl who had your back (and didn't talk about you behind your back).
"Really?" I sputtered. I'd heard the expression of someone 'turning their nose up' at something, but I'd never actually seen someone do it. "She would actually go through with the action?"
