Knowledge is power. This is what you are trying to sell. It is imperative that you know what you are selling and know exactly how it works. Become the master in your field. You should be able to explain the features and benefits of your product, as well as be able to demonstrate it at an instant. The following are powerful words that you can use to describe your product or service and make it more appealing to your customer. Use these words to fit your sales situation. Remember, these are words to persuade your prospect to buy.

5 Power words to use

"You" As human beings, we always have that thought on our mind. "What's in it for me?" When you use this word you are effectively communicating what's in it for them, so you will definitely grab their attention. Use a lot more "YOU" than "I" and you will be more persuasive next time you're trying to sell.

"Now" Nothing kills sales more than procrastination. Here's how to use it: "Take advantage of this" or "Take advantage of this NOW", "Click here" or "Click here NOW". It really makes a difference when you install a sense of urgency in your prospects mind. Use this word NOW!

"Secret" Come a little closer. I have a secret for you. People want to know what's going on; they have a fear of missing out. Everybody wants to know secrets. We want access to secrets. "I have a secret for you; you will be more successful when you use this word." Use this secret word to increase interest in your product or service.

"New" We want to know what's new on social media, what's new with your friends or the newest phone that just hit the market. Human beings are very curious and using this powerful word creates an insane amount of excitement in your customer. For example, "This is the NEW model" or "You will feel like NEW". Hopefully you can use this new word on your next sales presentation.

"Free" People like a bargain, people like free stuff. When using this word use it selectively. If you use this word too much you may devalue your product or service. We have to be smart when using this word. For example, "Here's a FREE sample for you" or "There's a 30 day FREE trial" People like to try before they buy. This is a very powerful word!

Now that you know the 5 power words to persuade your customer, make sure you know your product!

When it comes to knowing your product; I like to go to Costco and taste the samples. Usually I'm stuffed by the time I'm about to check out. Every time I approach an associate offering a sample they seem to know every last detail of what they're offering. They may know the origin of the product, or any other facts up to the health benefits. Costco knows how to sell, and I give them major credit. If you sell cars, know some of the key features like built in Wi-Fi or how it's going to benefit them by purchasing this car. You're a real estate agent? Know the neighborhood, schools, and some of the highlights to the home. You sell wireless phone services? Explain how your network is top of the line and give the supporting reasons. By knowing your product in and out, you make your life so much easier, not to mention, your customers will love the fact that you are confident in what you are selling. Remember, you're the expert in your field. The customers you are serving will see the light in your eye and be very happy to work with you. Of course, don't just rattle off and tell them everything you know about your product without first listening to them and informing them which product or service better suits them. Really listen, don't just pretend to hear them. You can evaluate what they need by listening to their problems and offering a great solution. By you knowing your product, you can really make a difference in their life as well as yours.

Can you imagine if you didn't know your product? How would you look? Would you sound professional? By not knowing your product, you're letting the customer walk out. If you sell multiple products or services, start off by learning just one product at a time until you master it. Shortly after that, move on to another, and so on. Everything else will fall into place as you start remembering more and more. Do your due diligence and be prepared. Customers will have all sorts of questions and comments regarding your product, and you must be ready to answer every question asked. Confidence goes a long way. Even if you are unsure of something, you can always ask for help. Tell your customer, "Good question let me find out for you." The benefits of your product are what sell. Show them something interesting, passionately talk about it, or have them try it out. Your product needs to be something that will make their life easier or provide them with comfort or entertainment. Emotionally connect your product or service based on their specific needs. Being well informed on your product will insure you give your customer all the right reasons to purchase today. Keep this in mind: the next time you present your product, get excited and talk about it like if it's the best thing in the world. Watch it make a huge difference in your sales pitch, because customers will feel your excitement, confidence, and knowledge.
