"Sam! Wake up! I need you to take these cookies to the new neighbor!" My stepmom, Cathy, screams from the other side of the house.

I open my eyes and look at the clock on my phone... 2 PM... well, shit... I crawl out of bed and pull on some jeans that are on the floor. Looking around my room, I find my favorite T-shirt and pull it over my head. I walk into the bathroom and brush my teeth. Walking to the kitchen, I grab my black beanie and slip it on over my short, boy-cut hair.

"Here's the cookies. Don't take too long, I need you to do some stuff when you get back." Cathy says.

I nod and grab the cookies, walking out the door. She isn't my favorite person in the world, but she actually listens to me unlike my real mom.

It's a beautiful day. I can hear the birds chirping and feel the warmth from the sun as I walk down the street. Today is the first day of my spring break. It's definitely much needed... sophomore year of college is a lot more difficult than freshman year.

I get to the house and the moving truck is in the drive way. It wasn't there last night so the new neighbor must have just got here earlier today. I knock on the door hoping that it's someone around my age considering most kids in the neighborhood are in middle school...

When the door opens, I'm greeted with two very beautiful, chocolate brown eyes.

"H-hi, I'm Samantha, but you can call me Sam. I live a few houses down and my stepmom wanted me to bring you these cookies." I say not taking my eyes off hers. They look very familiar, but I can't figure where where I've seen them before.

"Thank you so much! I'm De- I'm Danielle." She says with a smile.

"It's nice to meet you. If you need anything I'm the first house on the left and I'd be happy to lend a hand."

"Actually, I need some help unloading the truck... would you be willing to help? I can even pay you for it."

"Um... sure. I need to do a few things at home first but I'll come back as soon as I can."

"Okay, that's fine." She says with a smile.

The entire time I've been standing here I've been looking at her eyes. I finally break eye contact and fully look at her. She's a few inches shorter that I am. She has short purple hair with one side shaved off. It's very different but it looks good on her. She has freckles sprinkled across her face... She is absolutely gorgeous.

"Cool, so I'll see you then." I say smiling. She says goodbye and I wave as I walk away.

I know her somehow but I just can't figure out how...
