"I'm Noah by the way, and you are?"

"I-" I'm too stunned to reply right away, my mind was desperately begging me to say something but no words come out. I'm left staring at his mesmerising blue eyes and his stunning smile. He patiently looks at me, waiting for a reply.

"I'm Elena." I'm relieved I was able to say this without stuttering or saying some dumb shit.

"Ah, a pretty name for a pretty face." He replies.

"aH, a pReTTy nAmE fOr a pRetty fAce." I mock his way of talking out-loud, then realizing what I just did, I gasp and slap my mouth shut.

But instead of being offended, he laughs. Loudly. I stare at him in awe, he looked even prettier when he was laughing.

"Sorry..." I scratch the back on my head nervously. "I'm a really blunt person." I smile apologetically.

"That's fine, my way of talking sometimes is over the top, but I thought girls liked it until...well until you." His eyes seemed to twinkle in delight, like he's found a big prize or something.

"Yeah well I wouldn't be surprised, you're really handsome." I look down, blushing.

"Oh? Thank you."His smile turns into a smirk before he continues. "We go to the same college right? I look forward to meeting you again. I'll see you around!" He walks away, waving with his hand.

I watch him from afar, his tall figure slowly dissapearing into the distance.

What..just happened?

The next day was like any other day, I meet up with my two best friends, Nyla and Cara, who I will introduce later on, and go to the same boring classes that make me want to fall asleep right there and then.

During free period, I hurriedly look around for James, wanting to tell him about yesterday's events, When I finally spot him in the college garden(It was always open during daylight hours) where he was laying under a tree, I walk towards him before someone taps on my shoulder.

I turn around, and to my suprise, it was Noah. (Wow, shocking)

"Hey Elena." He greets me again with his charming smile, and all thoughts of James were thrown out the window.

"Oh hey! What are you doing here?" I smile back.

"I told you I'd be seeing you more often now, you've piqued my interest." He suddenly tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, lightly grazing my cheek.

"O-Oh?" Was my only answer, and I mentally face palm at my creative choice of words.

"Do you want to have lunch with me later?" He asks.

Wow? Is this for real? Doesn't this only happen in kdramas and movies?

"Yeah, sure. I mean it's not like I have any plans." I try to sound nonchalent and fail miserably at it.

"Great! I'll see you then." He smiles and yet again walks away.

James POV

Ah, this feels nice.

I found myself thinking while laying down under a tree, its shadow protecting me from the sun and heat while I was left with my thoughts.

Feeling myself rested enough, I get up, planning to find Elena since I missed her.

Only to see her with the person I dreaded to see her with : Noah. I could tell from here that Elena was blushing and stuttering, and that stupid smirk on his face-

If it was anyone else in the world, I would have let this go. But NOT my best friend.

He soon leaves afterwards, and seizing this chance, I rapidly walk towards her, grabbing her by the wrist and dragging her to someplace quiet. "Woah! Hey James stop-" She forcefully takes away my hand, making me turn around to look at her.

Her eyes were filled with worry and I immediately soften.

"What's wrong with you? My wrists hurt now you jerk." She glares at me while massaging her wrist.

"Right...I'm sorry. I just really needed to talk to you." She was still glaring at me, making me feel even guiltier.

"Well? What is it?" She looks at me, waiting for an answer.

"I don't think you should hang out with Noah anymore. He's not what he seems to be."

"Okay I need little bit more information and evidence to actually believe you." She rolls her eyes at my short statement.

"He's a Playboy, seriously don't fall for him. He will hurt you." My eyes are pleading and I know she noticed it.

"Well... Don't worry, I won't fall for him. But I can't promise I won't hang out with him, he was really sweet to me until now and I have no reason not to." She tries to reason with me but she was avoiding my gaze.

"Please be careful." I warn her one last time.

"Awww, look at you being all protective! What a good friend you are.". She teases, lightly punching my shoulder.

I roll my eyes, she's incorrigible.
I really hope she'll be okay.

Elena's POV

Okay, I know I promised James I'd be careful, but this turned out to be way too hard.

Especially since Noah was with me almost every second of the day excluding some classes. Worst of all : he buys me snacks. And we all know my weakness : food.

Noah was funny, handsome, considerate, and nice. Seriously I don't see how he could even hurt a fly? Let alone a human being. James was probably mistaken. In fact I was going to express my exact thoughts to him on the way home today.

But after my last class, I find myself in a really bad mood. I fell asleep during class and apparently they took really important notes, and no one is gonna let me copy since the exam is soon... Agh! This is so frustrating.

So, of course, that was the subject I first brought up to James.

"Well maybe you should have paid attention in class." He says .

"Wow...you're a life saver! This advice sure is gonna help me right now!" I angrily let out in a sarcastic tone. "Seriously, you're so annoying."

"Look who's talking." James talks back, making me even angrier.

I was about to reply when I hear a voice calling my name, and I stop in my tracks.

"Wait for me!" The familar voice cried out and I turn around to see a panting Noah, gasping for breath. He must have ran here.

James was glaring at him, why does he even hate him so much? I thought they were friends. Or at least that's what Noah told me.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"Sorry, I just forgot to give you back your textbook. Thanks, you saved me there." He gives me the textbook that he borrowed before stopping, looking at James. "I didn't know you guys were friends, I rarely ever see James with a girl." He smirks.

"Yep. Unfortunately I'm friends with this jerk who scolds me because I don't pay attention in class." He glares at me and I do the same.

"Why? what happened?"

I tell him my misadventure with the notes, and I'm more than happy by his reply.

"Oh! I take that class too. You can borrow my notes if you want." He gets the papers from his backpack and hands them out to me.

"Oh my God, thank you so much!" I hug him without noticing, then back away quickly, blushing profusely.

"Woah, if that's the treatment I'll get Everytime I let you borrow my notes, you can have them all." He smiles happily.

James was watching the entire thing, his eyes dark with anger and disappointment. "Let's go." He doesn't even give me time to reply before he drags me away. I take one last peek at Noah, who was happily waving at me.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had followed James's advice. But at that time, I was blissfully naive, happy that prince charming had finally noticed the lonely weird girl.
