Flare used the strands of her own hair to block off the flying blades coming towards the two.

This was her fault.

"Ne Ne Blondie! Look at this request!" Flare happily dawdled in front of the blonde patiently waiting for Lucy to see it.

The first job they will be going on together.

"Hm..." Lucy puffed her cheeks in a trance of thought.

Blade Monster on the loose. 500,000 jewels.

"Seems like something we can do. Together!" Lucy smiled.

"Eh? Y-You'd really wanna go on this with me?!" Flare exclaimed shocked.

"Of course, as long as it's with you." Lucy chuckled. Flare blushed, fiddling with her fingers.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. We'll be fiercer than ever!" Lucy sprung up balling her fist in a battling manner. The redhead smiled. Finally going on a job with her beloved.

"Focus Flare! What..? L-Loke are you...damn it!" Lucy frowned and stared at her Lion Zodiac Key as Loke disappeared. He managed to destroy most of the blades.

The monster continued with it's loud roars, Lucy tried to take out another key, a blade comes flying cutting through her arm, Lucy drops to her knees.

"Tch..."

"B-Blondie!" Cried Flare, now distracted the Blade Monster runs towards her, giving a light swing with his enlarged hand, Flare managed to block on time, another surprise attack sent her flying. Lucy turned to her partner now airbone flying towards the ground.

"FLARE!" Lucy held her arm running towards her as Flare hit the ground rolling on the rock hard ground. She managed to get away from the monster on time, only in a small field where all this madness is happening.

Now next to her the injured Flare flutters her eyes open.

"Thank god..." Lucy breathed out sighing.

"You're still breathing too blondie."

"Of course you idiot."

"W-we still need to defeat that thing..."

"No. I need to. You stay put. You're injured more than I am...ah!" Lucy held her arm, the bleeding cut oozing out with crimson blood.

"Are you crazy you can't fight! Especially in that condition! I'll be able to hold him off."

"FLARE! I can do this! Promise me you'll rest and not worry about me anymore?" Lucy asked. Flare stares into her eyes full of determination and sincerity.

"Un..." She nods. Lucy smiles standing up.

"Keep breathing." Lucy tells her. Turning to the monster. She took out her Gemini key carelessly, about to summon it falls out of her hand, Lucy's eyes widen as she sees the monster running towards her, Flare now sitting up as Lucy watches the key fall to the ground.

"Shimata!"

"Blondie!"

"GRR!" The monster throws his blades unexpectedly, Lucy standing there frozen, unknown of what to do, at the minute they pierce through her skin, Lucy felt unconcious.

"...What..?" She managed to whisper to herself before collpasing, falling behind to the ground.

"AHHHH!" Every direction Flare's hair was now piercing through the monster, destroying it all, as it lets out screams of pain, it's blades faded away as the Blade Monster has fallen. Flare stood up, hair shadowing her face.

"Hngh..." Lucy coughed out. Flare turning to her, immediately dashing to her aid.

"Blondie. Are you still with me?"

Lucy had her eyes closed, still as a statue.

"Blondie. Hey. Don't play around with me."

Lucy didn't move.

"Blondie...WAKE UP! BREATHE! BREAHTE! BREATHE BREATHE BREATHE BREATHE!" She was now teary eyed at this point.

"Breathe...." She croaked out her last word before resting at the crook of her neck. Lucy's body suddenly jolted, sending shocks throughout her body, shocking Flare.

Lucy let out a quick breath, slowly her eyes fluttered.

"F-Flare...?" She called her name, the soft, soft name Flare always loved. Lucy felt drips of tears on her neck, trickling down.

"Eh...?"

"You're breathing..." Flare brought her head up, exposing her saddened expression, making Lucy's eyes widened.

"Flare..."

"Next time. Don't ever." Flare wiped her eyes, brushing strands of Lucy's golden locks behind her ear.

"Try to scare me like that again."

"I'm sorry for scaring you...Flare."

"Who's the idiot now?" Flare chuckled to herself.

Lucy wiped her eyes, smiling, and closing them softly.

"I am."
