An ordinary girl, an extraordinary boy.

Chapter 1: Just a normal day

Anna's POV

Today was the day I met him. It started off as any normal day does with no indication this would be the day to change my life. I went through my usual Friday activities I drank at least 5 cups of coffee, did the days chores and ran my errands for the day.

As I was finishing my washing up for the evening my phone buzzed against the counter letting me know I had a text, I dried off my hands quickly before grabbing the phone and walking through to my cosy living room. Sitting down on my couch I unlocked the phone, clicking the screen to open the message. It read:

'Esk;
'Don't forget your shift at the club tonight babe ill be waiting for you (and the drink you're gonna buy for me) by the bar as usual luv ya xxx'

I smiled at my phone and shook my head quickly texting back to tell her I'd be there.

Esk had been my best friend for as long as I could remember,we'd met in primary school became friends in high school and were basically inseparable from there on out . We stayed in touch through college and then when I moved down to London to study accounting she moved down with me. I only got the job as bartender and waitress at the club to pay the rent but of course she took advantage of the free or cheap drinks it got her. Typical Esk.

Throwing my phone down onto the couch I ran upstairs to get ready for work.

"Hey Anna, come here and meet Laurence." A voice shouted to me over the music, I turned to see Esk sat with a gorgeous black haired guy. As I walked over to them I heard her say to him "Laurence,this is my best friend ever Anna as long as she likes you I'm sure we'll get on just fine." I just shook my head and said "Hi Laurence, it's great to meet you. Can I get you a drink? On the house, of course. " He smiled at me and said "Sure i'll just have the same as your stunning friend over here." He seemed like a good guy to me, he was definitely perfect for Esk so I could see why she liked him. " Alright two shots of vodka coming up" I got them both their drinks but then had to leave them to it when I got swept up serving customers as rush hour descended. Almost an hour and a half later the rush was over and I'd just about finished cleaning the glasses so I could take a break to talk to my best friend and her new boy toy. I looked around trying to spot them both and saw them sat in exactly the same place I'd left them. I cleaned up the last of the glasses, put them all away, and went to join the happy couple. "So how did you guys meet?" I asked them. " Actually we only met tonight, just before you arrived but we hit it off almost instantly we both have similar interests, you know the usual." Laurence told me. Esk nodded her head in total agreement "Yeah it was like fate or something I was just minding my own business waiting for you when he came and asked me if the seat next to me was taken and then we got talking about the music we like" I sighed quietly to myself hoping that someday I'd find someone like that, someone I could talk to effortlessly about anything, everything and nothing. Laurence started looking around as if he was trying to find someone, I opened my mouth to ask what he was looking for when he spotted whoever it was and shouted for them to come over "Hey Kier! Over here mate." I looked over in the direction he was waving and suddenly found it hard to breathe. The only way I could describe the man walking towards us would be absolutely stunningly handsome and drop dead gorgeous. 'Seriously, it should be illegal to look so good' I thought to myself as I admired the advancing figure. It was only as he sat down on the stool directly on the other side of the bar to me and coughed slightly to get my attention that I realised I had been staring at him for too long and looked away as my face heated with embarrassment. "What can I get you?" I asked the beautiful being before me. He smiled at me and said "I'll have a G&TC, please." I turned away and made him his drink before placing it in front of him quickly without making eye contact which was all fine until I accidentally knocked the glass over as I pulled my hand back. He jumped back instantly and I just stood there frozen for a few seconds before rushing around the bar to give him napkins and clean up the mess I'd made. " Oh gosh I'm so so so sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me I'm not normally this clumsy, I promise" I babbled at him apologising over and over almost in tears. He put one of his hands over mine and gently stopped my frantic babbling with his other hand forcing me to look up at him. "It's alright love, no worries, I'm fine, it barely touched me." He reassured me but he didn't take his hands off me "I'll get you another one just give me a minute I promise I won't mess this one up" I said pulling back and turning to go back behind the bar. It must have been my imagination but I could have sworn he almost looked disappointed to let me go but I just told myself it was wishful thinking . After successfully making and delivering another drink to him I got over my earlier embarrassment and we got talking about lots of things. We spent so long talking to each other and to Laurence and Esk about anything and everything that my shift was over before I knew it. I grabbed my coat and purse from the store room before heading out to grab a taxi with the others. " I had a really good time tonight with you, Laurence." I heard from Esk " we should do it again sometime all four of us when Anna isn't working yeah?"

"That's a great idea babe." Laurence said and Kier agreed, they all looked over to me and I said "Oh umm sure? I'd love to." Kier smiled at me and leant over to say "So maybe you could give me your number so we can sort out our next date, okay?" I nodded speechless and gave him my phone to put in his number and then he texted himself to get mine. "Thanks love" he said to me as he got out of the taxi with Laurence and blew me a kiss. On the ride home Esk and I were talking about the guys "Anna, I think he might be perfect for me I mean I know I've only just met him but I feel like I've known him for so much longer." She gushed at me. " I know exactly what you mean." I told her. I started wishing our next date would be soon because I knew I needed to get to know Kier he was like the missing puzzle piece in my life. In those hours that we had spent talking I realised he was who I'd been waiting for, that person who I could talk about anything, everything and nothing with and never run out of things to say . Just as I'd laid my head down on my pillow my phone vibrated on my bedside drawers. It was a text from him!

' Unknown number;
'I know its late but i just had to say I really enjoyed talking to you tonight i really hope you'll agree to see me again and i hope it's not too forward to say that until we meet again I will be thinking of you often. Good night, Anna. Sweet dreams. K <3 x'

I rolled onto my back and looked up at the ceiling unable to stop the grin from spreading across my face as I read and re-read his words. Finally I fell asleep and dreamt of him.
