Kier's POV

'Elaine;
Babe I just don't think this is working anymore we're not as close as we used to be, I think we need to take a break you know I'll always love you but I guess this is goodbye x'

I looked down at my phone in disbelief. She was breaking up with me?? After everything we'd been through together it was over just like that? I mean yeah sure we haven't been spending much time together but that was only because of her new job, it clashed with my band practice. As soon as we could set up a new time for band practice I'd be able to spend as much time as she wanted together. The fact that she broke up with me doesn't bother me though and it should. Shouldn't it? I was sat with my head in my hands when my phone started ringing. I jumped up off my bed rushing to grab it up. "Hello? Elaine, oh god Elaine what's going on sweetie? Why'd you break up with me?" I rushed to get all my questions out without pausing for breath. "Ermm sorry mate no it's me." Came the voice of my best friend, Laurence. "Has that stuck up whore finally broken it off then? Good riddance I say she was horrible I don't know what you ever saw in her Kemp. Listen I was just ringing to ask if you wanted to go to that nightclub in town tonight. You know maybe see if we can find you a pretty siren to take your mind off things for a while." Laurence asked me, I considered it for a while before thinking sure why not. "Yeah mate thanks that's just the thing I need now but no match making. Promise me you won't." I heard him begin to protest and then sigh on the other end of the phone. "Fine ill meet you by the bar at 10 then, laters." He hung up and I put my phone in the back of my skinny jeans.

I walked in through the club door, past the intimidating looking bouncer and headed towards the bar at the other end of the club. I looked around the crowd searching for the mop of black hair belonging to my best friend Laurence. As I made my way through the crowd mumbling my apologies to the people I passed, I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me "Hey Kier! Over here mate." I turned and saw Laurence sat with someone who looked like his female counterpart, I hadn't even met her yet but I could tell from the look of total adoration that she would be perfect match for him. After reaching the bar and sitting on the stool next to Laurence I noticed the female bar tender was staring at me with a dazed expression on her face, I coughed to get her attention and found myself mesmerised by the way her face quickly coloured red with embarrassment the flush rising up from her neck into her cheeks almost instantly. "What can I get you?" She asked me, trying to hide her face. I smiled slightly and asked "I'll have a G&TC, please." I was fascinated with the way she seemed to react to me I mean I know I'm not exactly a ugly duckling or anything but I'm not that good looking. She moved down the bar to get my drink ready and I turned to Laurence and this girl sat next to him. Immediately I started grilling them for all the details of their relationship. They had met each other only an hour earlier and had hit it off almost instantly, apparently they just clicked. I sighed internally remembering when Elaine and I had met that first time and how similar the two stories sound. Forcing myself back to the present I watched as the girl behind the bar leant over to place my drink down on the bar in front of me, I looked up to thank her when I felt the front of my jeans suddenly become cold and wet. I jumped back. " Oh gosh I'm so so so sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me I'm not normally this clumsy, I promise" The poor girl was clearly distraught babbling senselessly at me as she walked round the opening in the bar to pass me some napkins and try to clean up the spilt drink. She was freaking out so I placed my hand over hers and put a finger against her lips to shush her. "It's alright love, no worries I'm fine, it barely touched me." I reassured her, watching as she visibly relaxed against me but I still didn't release her. I fought to keep my expression from betraying my disappointment as she pulled away from me. "I'll get you another one just give me a minute I promise I won't mess this one up" I watched as she went back behind the bar and put together another drink for me which she managed to successfully deliver without any more mishaps for which I was thankful, I already looked like I'd wet myself. Afterwards she seemed to get over her earlier embarrassment and introduced herself, we fell into easy conversation for the rest of the night. We talked about everything from our first pet to the kinds of music we listened to, our favourite colour to our middle names. I found out more about Anna in the space of those few hours we spent together than I had done with Elaine in the entire 2 years we'd been dating for. Later on after Anna's shift had ended we all decided to share a taxi home. "I had a really good time tonight with you, Laurence." I heard from Anna's friend, Esk "We should do it again sometime all four of us when Anna isn't working yeah?" "That's a great idea babe." Laurence said and I agreed with them, we all looked over to Anna and I heard her mumble "Oh umm sure? I'd love to." I smiled a little smile at her hoping I looked pleased but not too enthusiastic. I leant over to say "So maybe you could give me your number so we can sort out our next date, okay?" She handed me her phone looking like she didn't believe this was happening, I typed my number in and texted myself so I'd have her number on my phone. "Thanks love" I said to her as I climbed out of the taxi with Laurence leaning my head back in and blowing her a kiss. We got back to the apartment without any problems and Laurence decided to head straight for bed. " Night, Kier mate" I replied likewise before walking into my own room. Before getting into bed I decided to send Anna a text telling her how much I enjoyed tonight and that I was looking forward to when we could meet up again. I had a really good feeling about her she got me like no one I'd ever met, not even Laurence who I'd known for forever. Laying down amongst my pillows with a great smile on my face I closed my eyes and almost instantly was asleep.

(A/N Our first bit of insight into Kier as a separate character. <3 Enjoy as always :) Anna xox )
