The cast list was stuck on the other end of the hallway, the theatre kids rallied around it as if it were the golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. The only sound that could be heard was the squeaking of sneakers and the incessant chatter of eager students. Hungry eyes scanned the names until each person found what they were looking for, some face's fell with disappointment as they attempted to look happy with their role, others lit up like Christmas trees as they bounced with excitement. Ismene's familiar perfume invaded my senses and I could feel her desire to shoot an insult at me to spike me out before I read the list. However, she stays silent, giving me what almost looks like a nervous nod of acknowledgement as her eyes flick from me to the paper.

Was she nervous about the cast list? "So much for it being pathetic and insignificant." I chuckle bitterly and she flushes a red hue. She furrows her neatly sculpted eyebrows as her eyes roll behind her glasses.

"Shut up and let's get on with it." She grumbled in response, resulting in me rolling my eyes aswell. The other theatre kids all began to vacate the area after getting a glimpse of what they were going to be playing for the next couple of months. Slowly but surely Ismene and I made our way to the front, I was prepared for my eyes to need to wonder down the page. But to my surprise I only had to scan the first line.

Sandy Dumbrowski - Ismene Leatorelli / Amelia Lendan

I couldn't work out if I was excited or fuming. I mean, this was my dream role and I'd worked so hard. But that just means I'd be working side by Side with Ismene for 4 moths.

"Told you we'd get double casted." Ismene chirps, a sarcastic smile on her lips.

"You only wanted Sandy cause I wanted it." I seethed.

"Oops, now it looks like you're stuck with me." She teased and I scowled at her immaturity. "Look who else we're stuck with." My eyes scanned the page further until it reached Danny's name.

Danny Zuko - Christopher Lenatillo

"He's going to be the perfect Danny." I sigh with a smile, Ismene's face falls and I squint in confusion. "Please don't tell me you're into him too?" I'd had a crush on Christopher for months, he was practically the only straight theatre kid left, besides me of course.

"Have you seen him? The guys a god! I can't wait for him to fall in love with me after rehearsing the kiss scene." She snickers at her own plan.

"Not if he's already dating me." I fire back with an ignorant smirk.

"You're on." She replies, her competitive nature seeping through her words.

We both headed to class and I was met with a big congratulations from my friends, they'd all also recieved the parts they were striving for and I knew that despite having such a hellish cast partner that this year's rehearsals were going to be so fun.

The rest of the day had dragged on, my mind fogged with the extremely surreal news that I would actually be playing Sandra Dee. It was practically a dream come true. I'm not sure how they are going to get around Ismene's obviously brunette hair but I'm assuming she'll be placed in a very chic wig.

The minute I stepped into my house I called into the practically empty space. "I got the part!" I heard the muffled sound of my mums voice from somewhere in the kitchen but the sound of her footsteps drowned it out. She rounded the corner and enveloped me in a supportive hug.

"Congratulations! I'm so proud of you!" She stated excitedly.

"Ismene got Sandy aswell, we are apparently double casting this year." I explain and her face brightens even further.
