The others watched on with their mouths hanging open in shock. Pam was sure Harleen was teasing the Joker. Perhaps the doc was trying to see just how far she could push him and get away with it.
What she wasn't sure about was how he was going to take that. The Joker was not known amongst Gotham's underworld as the most forgiving of people. Though for some reason he gave Harleen more leeway than others. Pam was willing to bet it was because he cared for her.
"Alright you four, I want to know what you are up to."
"Up to?" The Joker questioned innocently.
They had agreed that if they got caught he would be the one to handle the doc. It only seemed logical since the Joker said she was his. None of them wanted to step on his toes in that department. He had already beaten Eddie and no one wanted a repeat performance.
"Pam?" But the woman just kept whispering to her cactus.
"What a sweet little prickly pear you are." She cooed to it.
Harleen could see she would get nowhere with the one woman she thought would be on her side. What the hell happened to chicks before dicks? Really she had commiserated with Pam over the asshat that had poisoned her, so a little help would have been nice.
"Eddie? Ozzie?" Harleen was growing exasperated.
They each refused to answer or even look at her. All except Mr. J. Oh she wasn't stupid enough to think that he hadn't threatened the others. Though what he held over their heads she didn't know. He wasn't able to physically hurt them since he was still on lock down.
What she did know was that she was getting tired of this game. Harleen wanted answers and she wanted them now.
"Fine, you better start talking Chuckles."
Oh she is a firecracker. The voice sighed.
The Joker found himself annoyed that her outburst was turning him on. Making him wish they were alone so he could pin her down and have his way with her. Fuck her against the wall until she was a writhing mess. Then they would see just who the alpha was.
"It appears your past has come to light. And it has us worried."
Harleen noticed that the others were looking at them now, their gifts forgotten. She felt herself shift uncomfortably in her seat. Their scrutiny was making her feel as if she was the patient and they the doctors.
Shooting to her feet Harleen planned to pace and try to get her nerves under control. But the Joker pulled her down into his lap and wrapped his arms around her waist. She wanted to struggle but knew with how strong he was it would only embarrass her further.
The Joker pushed her hair over her right shoulder, giving him access to her left. He placed small delicate kisses to her exposed skin. The sensation sent shivers down her spine.
"Easy, Harley. We only want you to know we understand. Don't we Edward?"
J's voice had softened and Harleen knew it was Jason holding her. He was the only one of his personalities that ever called her Harley. Even his touch was gentle, a soothing caress against her thigh.
"Doc, I need to tell you something." Eddie whispered without meeting her gaze.
"Easy, Riddles. We all know this won't be easy for either of you." Pam rubbed his shoulder in a comforting gesture.
"Vengeance burns darkly inside the betrayed, as they stare at reminders of debts unpaid." Lifting his gaze Eddie looked deeply into Harleen's eyes.
