As Selena Kayle walked through the front doors of Arkham she fought to suppress a shiver. This was the worst place to house people like herself. Here with nothing to keep them busy, they would only have time to dream up ways to bring the world to its knees when they escaped.

Believe it or not, Arkham wasn't known for its skill at keeping its inmates behind bars. A fact that had Selena wondering why Batman brought them here in the first place. Surly there was someplace that had better max security. For Pete's sake half the guards were on the take, or working for one or more of the criminals Arkham housed.

"Name?" A fat middle aged guard asked her.

"Ms. Selena Kayle, here to see Edward Nygma."

Briggs eyed the woman before him. She was stunning, decked out in a slim fitting pants suit that she topped with a lavender corset. Once again he wondered why all the freaks got the hotties. Maybe chicks really did go for the nuts.

"You on the visitor list?" He affected an air of boredom.

Selena wanted to scream. She couldn't understand why Arkham employed such miscreants. He should have known that guys like this would send the likes of Riddler, Ivy, and the Joker over the edge. Maybe that was what he was hoping for. If they got out of line it was just an excuse to shock them, or shoot them up with the latest drug on the market.

Leaning over she tapped the short list in front of him. "I'm on the list."

Briggs' gaze followed her finger and he would be damned. She was on the list. Well, now he had no choice but to show her where the Riddler was kept.

Getting up he gestured her ahead of him. "Right this way."

******

Briggs left her at the end of the hallway with Mateo. They walked towards the third cell in silence.

When Edward came into sight he didn't look happy to see her. "Selena, what brings you here? I thought you'd be busy riding the Bat."

She ignored his barb. It was the same one he used to greet her most days. Every since she had started chasing after Bruce Edward felt slighted. She didn't understand why he had expected they would be the next Bonnie and Clyde.

Gazing around the cell he was kept in she couldn't help but feel bad for him. Sure, they were considered villains by all of Gotham, but that was only because they weren't the ones telling their stories. If so it would have sounded much different. She was sure there was a Social Justice Warrior out there somewhere that would champion for them.

"You who. Where did you go, kitten?" Edward was pressed against the bars, his keen gaze taking her in.

Selena wasn't her normal ready to pounce with the come backs, self. He had never seen her so outside of her comfort zone. Edward was sure from the look of her this defiantly had something to do with the Bat.

"I hate this damn place." Selena rubbed her arms, trying to keep the chill from settling into her bones.

He chuckled, "Yeah me too. But it's the only place the Bat puts us. Not like we get a choice."

Selena's eyes light up with annoyance at the mention of Bruce. She had told herself she wasn't jealous of Dr. Quinzel, and it was a lie. Though she knew Bruce was known for his fuck'em and leave'em style, and that this was just another of his passing flings.

She also knew that Harleen Quinzel was the type of girl that a guy like Bruce could settle for. That perfect little piece of arm candy. A woman who knew the does and don'ts of high society.

Shit she was going to have to make sure that Dr. Quinzel knew the truth of what had made the Joker, well... the Joker.

"Eddie you like your doctor don't you?"
