Ch. 20

Omniscient

"FUCKKK!" Nicki screams out in pain. "Please, please, please stop!" She whimpered out while shaking her head.

"You're almost there, Nicki. Almost!" Dr. Wilborn coached.

"You got dis, behbey." Rihanna kissed Nicki's temple. "One more push."

"Come on, princess." Bey coached on the other side of her, Nicki squeezing both women's hands.

Nicki screamed and grunted as she pushed again. "Wait! Stop, Nick. Stop pushing!" Monica said frantically, making Nicki's heart drop.

"What's wrong?!" Bey asked before Nicki or Rihanna had to.

"The baby's breached. Stop." Nicki knew what that meant. If the doctor didn't fix it soon, a cesarean would be the only choice.

Nicki tried to stop the constant flow of tears so her body would relax, but she couldn't seem to do it. The pain was unbearable, and it felt like she was being ripped apart.

"It's twins!" Monica said in shock, her eyebrows raised to the sky.

Nicki looked at Bey and Rih to make sure she heard that correctly, and their faces showed the same shock and confusion she imagined her own face had.

"Baby number two's blocking baby number one from getting out. Rihanna and Bey, keep her legs firmly in the stirrups." Monica instructed before pushing on Nicki's protruding belly.

"Wh-what are you doing?" Bey asked, scared out of her mind.

"Sh-she has t-to try and push the other baby up." Nicki tried to explain. "T-to av-avo..."

"To avoid having to do a c-section." Monica helped her finish her explanation. After a few more pushes to her stomach Monica went back to her original place. "Ok, Nicki, push. Push with everything you have in you right now, sweetie."

A loud, pained scream left Nicki's throat as she pushed for what felt like the hundredth time that day.

The second she heard a loud, powerful cry fill the room, Nicki let out an exhausted but happy sigh. "Okay, Nicki, push!" Monica ordered after handing the first baby to Robyn.

Another heartwrenching cry left Nicki as she pushed, and pushed, and pushed again. She literally felt like her entire body had been drained, but once again, the second she heard loud cries, she let out a deep breath.

Bey cut the second umbilical cord and took the baby over to where Monica would clear there airways and clean them off before weighing and checking them.

"Wh-what did we have?" Nicki asked softly, her eyes opening and closing.

Immediately following her question, loud alarms began going off on Nicki's machine. Bey and Robyn, with the babies securely in their arms, rushed to Onika's side.

"Nicki?!" Bey shook her arm.

"Behbey?!" Robyn's hand touched her cheek.

Monica moved them out of the way and began checking on Nicki. Her face showing every emotion, but her thoughts... her thoughts told Bey everything she needed to know.

Making quick work, Bey bit into her wrist and quickly pressed it to Nicki's lips. Robyn, scared it wasn't enough, took a needle recently used to inject medicine and stuck it in her vein before slamming it straight into Nicki's heart. Both refusing to take any chances on the woman they both loved.

"What's happening?!" Ariana asks bursting through the door, Carol right behind her.

Ari stopped in her tracks after seeing Nicki laying lifeless in her bed. Carol looked between Bey and Rihanna, both holding a baby, before looking at her baby lying in the bed while the monitors continued ringing throughout the room.
