In an instant, Elise gripped the knife in her hands, gritting her teeth, "I-It was y-your fault... Your f-fault, your fault-" she continued to murmur, until her voice became as loud as thunder, hollering at the couple. She wanted to stop them. She wanted to hurt them. She wanted to kill them. Her vision darkened, and before anyone expected it, she worked her feet to Rosa, stabbing her in the head.
The blood gushed out of her head, as a deafening shrill escaped the old woman's lips. Edward fell on his back, in pure horror, watching his wife get murdered right in front of him. Elise continued to stab, and stab, and stab, and stab, as the blood continued to flow out, and soon enough, the screams faded away.
Erika stopped dead in her tracks. She shook her head and raised her arms up to evade the sight and ran out the door. The man, saw his daughter leave and stood up to follow her until a hand grasped his leg.
He fell on the floor, dragged to his doom. He shrieked and tried to escape, but before he even had a chance, he was on her hands. For a moment he stared straight at her wide green eyes, full of bloodlust, fueled of rage. And before he knew it, the knife pierced through his ribcage, and again, and again, and again.
Then, she stopped. She dropped her knife to the ground and stared at the dead corpses. The corpses who were once humans, who she mercilessly killed. The bodies full of holes, the floor pooled with blood, and her hands covered in sin. Her tears dripped down her eyes, as she stood up, pulling herself to a hug. All strands of her hair fell on her face, as she grits her teeth, this time, out of pure horror.
Her body rattled, and for a split second, her sister came into mind, "E-Erika!" She ran to the door, reaching out for escape, to find her sister, but instead was greeted by the police, each one with guns pointing at her, "Put your hands in the air!"
She stopped and fell on the floor. Her heartbeat quickened, as she stared back. Ariana went inside, enveloping Erika in a tight hug, who cried on her shoulder, with Ariana patting her back, yet turned to the corpses out of terror, then turned to Elise, who had her hands cuffed. The darker woman, with her wide eyes, looked over to Ariana, then to Erika. And her emotional state got worse.
Days have passed. It's the final day of Elise' trial. The judge, with her long gray hair and beady eyes, thought for a moment. She then looked up, and announced, "I declare Elise Goldman guilty of second-degree murder of Rosa and Edward Goldman and involuntary manslaughter of Matthew Moore. Due to her mental illness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, instead of being taken to jail, she'll be taken to a mental asylum."
Her hands faced the cuffs, once more, as two polices grabbed her by her shoulder and guided her out of the courtroom. And for the last time on the rest of her life, she believed, she looked at Erika, a crucial witness to the crimes, sitting at a chair in front of the judge. Her blonde hair was tied in a messy bun, and the fair girl did not dare look at her sister at all. Tears prickled the sides of her jade eyes, and the door behind her closed.
At the end of the hallway, was a young man, wearing a long white suit, his eyeglasses shining from the light. Elise shivered, remembering Matthew, who had eyeglasses on as he died. "Hello, Elise. I'm Mark Johnson. I'll be your therapist and doctor," the man told to her, offering his hand for a handshake. She looked up at the man as if saying that her handcuffs are holding her down. The man smiled, and looked at one of the police officers who were also in the room, "Will you please take off her handcuffs?"
The police officers were surprised, "Sire, in all due respect, it might be dangerous-" the doctor stopped him by raising his hand. The two officers turned to each other and were forced to release the darker woman.
She looked at the man once more, staring into his hazel eyes, "Mister, why is there so much sorrow for the darker?" she asked, "I've heard of many cases like this, racism, was it?"
The doctor couldn't speak and instead stared at her right at her jade eyes. She sighed and turned to the police officers. She frowned at the two. And in an instant, she ran between the two officers, grabbing hold of one of their holsters, and ran at the end of the long hallway. She pointed at the two police officers, "Don't move or I'll shoot! Sit on the ground!" The two stopped and was forced to do nothing.
"Doctor, answer my question. Why sorrow for the darker?! Is this all that I have to live for? Constant suffering?" The doctor stared at the girl, then sighs, "I'm sorry, Elise. You're too far gone."
The darker woman gave a pain-stricken smile and she pointed the gun to her head. The police officers scurried to stand up and stop her.
"I'm sorry, Mother Vanessa. I'm sorry, Lord. I have failed you," she whispers, looking at the one light bulb above her.
She shot, the bullet passing through her brain, and coming to a halt. The loud bang echoed in the walls, as her body started its fall to the floor. The deed's been done. And finally, she understood what her painting truly meant. The dark hand lifting her up to the sunlight wasn't lifting her at all, instead, was a tease that she, will never be able to gain the truest happiness her mother promised her as a child.
The doors of the courtroom swiftly opened, as hundreds of people came running. The rest of the police officers circled her body and stopped anyone to pass through, except for one woman. Her fair skin and her blonde hair squeezed out of the crowd and kneeled before her sister's body. Her tears dripped on the face, as she tried to desperately save her.
"No, no, no!" she screamed, "Elise, don't leave me!" she held her sister's hand, and in Elise's last dying moments, she raised her hand to touch her sister's fair face, the contrast between the opposing colors was easy to spot. She rubbed her cheek, and her last words escaped her mouth, "I'm sorry, Erika. Thank you for everything you've done. And please, change the world for me," and her arm fell on the ground.
Elise Goldman is dead. And there is no way to bring her back.
