MR. NAVY SEAL

It was late at night and Julie's parents were already in bed, ready to settle in for the night. Joanne was in bed reading a novel while Tom was taking a shower. She paged through over to the next page when her husband came out of the en-suite bathroom already dressed in his pajamas. He climbed in under the covers next to his wife. He inquisitively looked at the book as she closed it. "What are you reading?"

"It's a romantic novel."

He looked at the cover of the book. The background was white with a Stethoscope and a heart with little heart monitor spikes on both sided. "I see."

"It's about a surgeon falling in love with one of his patients."

"It's not those erotic crap is it?"

"No, honey. Relax. It's actually a very nice story. And very deep too. You will love reading it too. It reminds me a little bit of when we first met." Joanne put the book on the bedside table and looked at her husband smiling. 

"It does?" Tom smiled and kissed his wife on the cheek. "I love you Mrs. Slattery."

"And I love you honey."

Tom turned off the bedside lamp and turned to hold his wife in his arms before they both fell asleep.

In her bedroom Claire was also already dressed in her pajamas chatting with one of her friends town via e-mail.

'So when is Lucas leaving for San Diego?'

Claire started typing. 'He's leaving for the Coronado Navy Base in San Diego tomorrow. I'm so upset. I don't get to see him for at least a month. And I didn't get to see him these past few weeks either.'

'Why?'  her friend replied.

'My dad grounded me.'

'What for? Why?'

''Because he's a jerk.'  Outside Lucas was trying to get Claire's attention, but he couldn't shout out of fear of waking up her parents. 'I've got to go. Lucas is outside my bedroom window.'

'Talk to you later girlfriend.'

Claire stood up and walked up to her window. "Lucas, what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to come inside but your parents are already asleep."

"Yeah."

"Is there a way I can get inside through your bedroom window?"

"What?" Claire looked at Lucas as if he was crazy. "Are you insane? What if you fall and get hurt?"

"I will try not to."

Lucas took grip of the lattice fencing against the wall and as flimsy as it was he climbed all the way to the top with a little effort. He then climbed through the bedroom window. "You know my father is going to kill me if he finds out you're in my room. And there's a big fat chance he will kill you too." They both went to sit on her bed facing each other with their legs crossed.

"Does he have a basement too where he hides the bodies?" Lucas joked.

"Very funny, haha." 

"I'm not afraid of your father."

Claire chuckled. "Famous last words Mr. Navy Seal."

"You should see my uniform I get to wear," Lucas boasted.

"Crisp white and difficult to keep clean?"

"You got it," Lucas snickered. "No, actually it's navy blue."
