Drowning

The water in her throat is too thick to breathe.
The weight on her shoulders too heavy to rise.
In too deep to leave.
She's drowning, no one hears her cries. For her future she'll grieve.
At the riverbed she lies.
Too late for reprieve,
in the darkness she dies.
