Chapter 10- Turner

Just friends?  How was I supposed to manage that? All day today, Catherine did little cute things that made me even more attracted to her.  I fought the strong urge to just lay one on her all day and when I got to know her even more, the fight grew harder and harder.  No pun intended.  She was so pure and innocent.  She was so different from every girl I’d ever hooked up with.  She was almost at the same level as Lana when Derrick first met Lana, but Catherine was better.  Catherine was smart and driven, she knew what she wanted and all I needed to do was to make her want me.

            “Uncle Turner… Uncle Turner… Uncle Turner… Uncle Turner…”

“Emma…” I groaned, turning into the back of the sofa.

“Uncle Turner!” Emma sang loudly.  “Wake up!  Wake up!  Wake up!”

“RAWR!” I shouted, popping up and sitting up on the couch that I slept on.

“AHHHH!” she screeched, running as fast as she could into the back of the house.

“Thank you…” I muttered to myself as I lay back down and settled into a comfortable position.

“Turner!” Daniel called out from somewhere in the house.  “Don’t you go back to sleep.  It’s already noon.”

“Seriously?  I’m a teenager.  Why can’t you people just let me sleep past noon?” I exasperated, snapping my eyes open to see Daniel standing over the couch with a steaming cup of coffee in his hands.

“Well in case you didn’t notice, you’re sleeping on my couch and I have a daughter who is dying to watch TV but can’t because her cowardly uncle can’t face his own father.”

“Thanks Danny boy,” I said, sitting up and grabbing the coffee out of his hands.  “I’m glad to know you love me as much as I love you.”

“No problem baby bro,” he said, “oh, Ash and I are going into the city in a few minutes, can you bring Emma back home with you? Maybe she can distract dad enough so you can keep avoiding him.”

“Honestly Daniel.  Why don’t you go talk to him about this?”

“Because he doesn’t know that I know.  This is the price you pay for being nosy.”

He was right.  I needed to stop being curious.  It has only bit me in the ass my entire life.  “Fine whatever, I’ll take her back with me,” I promised, grabbing my phone and texting Aaron to gather everyone up and meet at my place in an hour.  “EMMA!  You can come out now!  The monster is gone.”

“Okay!” she giggled, skipping her way to the couch and jumping up on me.

“What are we going to watch?”

“Dora, Dora, Dora the Explorer!” she sang, turning the television on and navigating her way through the TiVo and finding her show.  Kids these days had it way too easy.  When I was her age I had to watch whatever was on TV or a VHS recording my mom made or bought, there was no TiVo nonsense.
