Chapter 13

"So wait explain what happened at the date again" Autumn says

"It wasn't a date" I say as we walk through the narrow school halls avoiding contact with everyone else.

"Ok sorry explain your hang out with Michael" Autumn says looking at me.

"We met, we got some food, the concert began, the concert finished, we got some ice cream and spoke in the park and that was it I went home" I explain. "That's all"

"That's a fucking date" Autumn exclaims.

I sigh opening my locker. "It wasn't a date we split the bill and I paid for the ice cream"

"Babe it's 2019 shit like that happens now it's not only the guy who pays for meals now" Autumn replies looking at me. "Feminism is on a rise"

"Still it wasn't a date" I murmur. "Think what you want Autumn I know it wasn't a date"

"Hey hoes" Jenna greets coming with Xena.

"The only hoe here is Autumn but hi" I say smiling. "Oh how was your date?"

"It was amazing" Jenna gushes. "He took me to that nice park on Richmond way and we just spoke about everything, he fed me strawberries and he was just so cute; It was nice knowing this soft side of him because yeah he's hot and everything but he has a great personality too"

"Is he boyfriend material?" Xena asks.

"Hell yeah" Jenna answers leaning against my locker. "He said he's going to take me out again later I don't know when though"

"I'm so jealous" Xena whines. "Luke and I have been speaking every day and he's yet to ask me out like I thought I made it clear that he likes me"

I shrug. "Maybe you didn't"

I zip my bag and look up and saw them all staring at me.

"What?"

"My sweet lovely awesome best friend Dara" Xena sings sweetly.

"Well you are buddies with Michael why don't you ask him to ask Luke if he's interested in Xena" Autumn suggests.

I laugh. "Wow so you guys are just using me for my connections"

"Yes" They all reply.

"Why don't you ask him out?" I ask Xena. "Invite him to the bookstore or that milkshake place you love so much"

"I'm scared" She mumbles. "He's sculpted by Gods what if he says no"

"You know; This is why I don't get into relationships" Autumn says. "This is just unnecessary stress"

"Don't you miss relationships?" I ask. "I mean your last one was this that Asian dude with the great eyebrows"

"Robert" Jenna says.

"Yes Robert" I say looking at Autumn.

Autumn gags. "Don't speak about Robert he's in the box of mistakes; Yes, the relationship was great and all but he wanted too much...I'm happier being free and open to anything"

Just then the bell rings and we all let out sighs.

"Dara and I have Biology" Autumn groans.

"Drama" Xena and Jenna says.

"See you at lunch" I said waving at them.

Autumn and I head to class and take our designated seats at the back. I hum an overplayed Halsey song as I take out my things when Autumn rests her head on her hand and looks at me.
