Dear Diary,
This has got to be the most drama-ridden first day of school I have ever witnessed. More drama ridden than the first day of 5th grade, when I nearly beat up Cameron Crowe for insulting me and trying to push me into the flower bushes. Thankfully, it was not really centered around me, but more around Sophia.
Sadly, we only have our science class together. I can't socialize with her as much as I'd like, but on the bright side, science is first period, so I get to see her when I'm fresh and not a bitch from dealing with other teachers breathing down my neck.
We promised each other that we would meet outside the gym before lunch, so that we could have lunch together and talk about how bad our teachers are. Well, I didn't expect her to come out looking like her late great grandfather had appeared in front of her and chased her down the halls.
I walked out of my English class, which is less than a minute away from the gym, to find Sophia standing there, pale as a ghost, looking like she had been deathly ill for the past 3 weeks. I knew something was up almost immediately, but I also knew this wasn't going to be good because she had never been this pale and scared before.
I took a deep breath, and walked over to where she was standing, and calmly said, "How are your teachers? Any of them pains in your butt yet?"
All she did was look at me, shook her head, and say, "I'm not worried about the teachers, Sonia. I'm worried about a certain somebody."
I raised an eyebrow, and said, "Okay, explain to me as we walk towards the benches. I'm starving, and you know how bitchy I get if I don't have food during the day."
She nodded her head, and we started walking towards the nearest lunch bench that we could find. "Alright. So, tell me.What's making you so mortified?" I asked her.
All she did was let out a huge sigh, and said, "Well, it's about a guy in my English class. I don't know if you know him, but I know him a little bit better than other people."
We reached the lunch benches, and I flopped down on it and unzipped my lunch bag. "Okay. Who is this mystery man?" I asked, as I took out my container of food.
She sat down beside me, and said, "Ray Richards."
Immediately, that rang a bell in my mind. Ray Richards, who was in my math class, was arguably the only person who didn't look like he wanted to run out of that classroom and back into his bed. I sit across from him, and my first impressions of him weren't bad. He had light brown hair, complex blue green eyes, and a smile that seemed to travel across the whole room.
Overall, he seemed cool, but after talking to a lot of people, I heard about the "legend" that he was one of the most chill guys to walk the streets of Santa Ana. Then again, I really shouldn't have asked Pete Klein that, because he also said that my hair isn't naturally blonde.
"Oh, yeah, he sits across me in math. So why is that such a big deal?" I asked.
Sophia let out a huge sigh, and merely said, "Okay, do you remember me telling you that in my guy friends circle, there was one person who I hadn't seen in years and I wondered how he was doing?"
My eyes widened as my mind put two and two together, and I said, "No way." She nodded, as she snapped open the container.
"Yes way. It's him. I recognized his name, his facial features, everything. I couldn't believe it was him."
A smile creeped upon my face, and I said, "That's great! You have another friend with you! So why are you scared about that?"
Sophia's eyes widened yet again, and she said, "Uh, Sonia, it's been years. YEARS. Tell me this. What are the chances that he's going to remember me?"
