Dear Diary,
I hate life sometimes. I think everyone hates life at some point, but man, I want to take my English textbook and whack life in the face right now. I was so excited when I saw Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Smith talking so fondly, but now, I just wish I had done something more. And on top of that, my friendship with Sophia isn't going so great.
So, after the parent teacher conferences, I thought that everything would be great. Ray and Sophia would acknowledge each other, they'd talk, and build up an amazing relationship. Nope. That was all a fantasy. They've resorted back to awkward glances and just not talking to each other unless they're forced to.
It seemed like the parent teacher conferences did nothing to help their relationship. At all. They're just back to the way it was before their moms saw each other. Honestly, it makes me mad, because I really should've just started the conversation so that the relationship would've gotten a lot better. Nope. I just stood there and let things slide like the genius that I am.
On top of that, if I'm being completely honest, then I think Satan has come up from friendship hell and is putting his tactics to use. Man, if there was friendship hell, then Pete would be waiting there, and then Satan would put a fiery border around us so that we'd attempt to make peace with each other. I'm shuddering imagining it.
But anyways, as the daughter of a psychologist, I think I know what's happening. Sophia and I are drifting. That's the short version. We're drifting, because of the workload. I think the real thing that I see is that Sophia is taking school too seriously.
Don't get me wrong, I'm serious about school too. But sometimes, you just need to take a break and let loose. You can't be stressed all the time when it comes to school, and we both know that. She's doing the exact same thing Anthony did in his first two years of high school, and it's slowly killing her inside.
I've been trying to tell her to lay off, don't worry too much, but man, she refuses to listen. I think that's really what kind of started the shitshow that happened a few days ago.
"I have an English quiz to study for, I have to go fill out a form for one of my clubs, I have a digital imaging project coming up. I feel like a boa constrictor is wrapping around me. I can't take this. If I can't handle this, then I don't know how I'm going to get through high school," Sophia cribbed, as I wrote in my English notes.
I looked up at her, and said, "Come on. You'll be fine. Don't worry, you got this. I promise, you'll be fine."
Sophia just looked at me and said, "You don't get it, Sonia! I can't take this. Victoria is making my life hell, Anthony just isn't Anthony anymore, my grades are slowly starting to slip, and the workload isn't getting any better."
I put my pencil down and looked at her with a sympathizing look on my face. "Look. I promise you, Anthony will be fine. He's probably going through a rough patch in school right now. Victoria isn't going to bother you if you just don't associate with her. I'd say go out less and less, and if you want, I'll come with you so that they don't bother you. I only live a 3 minute drive from you. And of course it's going to be rough. It's getting close to the end of the semester. Trust me, you'll be fine."
Sophia plopped down on the chair. "Dear gosh. I just realized how much I've been ignoring you and not talking to you, Sonia. I'm so sorry."
I shook my head, with a simple smile."Don't worry about it. School is rough. On that note, how's everything going with Ray? You said that he's slowly warming up to you."
Sophia smiled. "Oh yeah. He's slowly asking me more and more questions, and we're getting to know each other a little bit more. Granted, it's still kind of awkward, but overall, we're not doing bad. Is Pete still tormenting you?"
I threw my hair back, and say, "I mean, he's still tormenting me about being Russian, about vodka, and now it's about the Soviet Union. Yeah, I totally want to marry him!"
Sophia chuckled a little bit. "Yeah, even Ray seems to be kind of done with him. He's always complaining about him to Adam in English, and so far, the stories seem to be pretty funny. But don't worry. Break's coming up. You won't have to see his face for a while."
I chuckled a little bit. "Thank heaven. I just hope he doesn't show up at my doorstep and start yelling, 'SONIA, AREN'T WE GONNA TEST OUT SOME VODKA? YOU PROMISED ME!' In that case, I would get a security guard."
Sophia rolled her eyes. "That's unlikely. He's too scared to approach your house. Your mom cursing him out in Russian would scare him away, and he doesn't know your address. The chances of that are lower than the chances of Anthony actually getting a decent girlfriend."
I scoffed a little bit, then remembered about Bitchface Diana. The one whose head was so far up her ass that anyone could smell her shit from a mile away.
Yeah, I wondered if she was still around, or if Anthony had dropped her off at the local animal shelter. I was really hoping for the latter. "Hey, is your brother still dating Bitchface Diana?" I asked, and Sophia leaned back in her chair a little bit.
"Thank goodness, no. She dumped him for the MVP of the soccer team a while back. I'm so glad that they're not together anymore. I'm honestly surprised that I didn't call animal control to come pick her up and take her away."
I snorted a little bit, because of her slight sass, and just went back to reading my book, closing off with a, "Good. Glad she's gone."
So, overall, we are drifting a little bit, but we're trying to make things work. Sure, we fight, insult each other, curse at each other, and annoy each other in the many different ways, but in the end, we can't live without each other. I think that was really our driving factor today. But overall, despite our problems, she's my best friend, and I'm happy about that.
Love,
Sonia.

That last paragraph reminds me so much of my best friend and I. *remembers that Sonia IS based off of my best friend* Never mind it. So, looks like Sophia's slowly getting more and more stressed! Do you think Sonia did the right thing by being patient with her?
Hey everyone! How are you all? Also, ITS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! It's Christmastime! I love it, but one of my best friends hates it. What's your favorite part about Christmastime? I love the candy canes, the music, and just the spirit overall. (Even though I don't celebrate).
Other than that, that's pretty much it. Hope you all liked this chapter!
Please vote/comment/share/follow/message if you like my work! See you all next Sunday with a new entry in Sonia's diary! Have a great week!
Love you guys,
Shree
