Dear Diary,

For once, my hopes didn't let me down. I predicted it, and it's finally here. Ray and Sophia have rekindled their friendship. Everything is back to normal. Kind of. But honestly, this is the best situation that I can come up with. I can't ask for anything else.

We sat with Ray and Pete for the first time ever on Thursday. We all got to kind of get to know each other, and see how everyone was doing. I know that Ray and Sophia are going to end up being the best of partners. They just compliment each others' personalities so well.

"Are you happy?" I asked Sophia, as she read a book in the library.

"I'm thrilled. I'm finally friends with Ray, and you know what? I don't regret rekindling the friendship with him. He's such a sweet dude," she told me.

I smiled. "I'm happy for you. I was hoping that you and him would be friends again, because I saw how much it was killing you from the inside and out. Honestly, if you guys end up fighting and not being friends anymore, then I'm going to go cry myself to sleep."

Sophia chuckled, and said, "No. I don't think that's going to happen. I can tell that Ray is a lot happier since we started talking again. I don't know about Pete, since he always looks like he wants to barf in the nearest toilet when he sees us giggling together."

I rolled my eyes. "It's Pete. He's just jealous that you and Ray don't stab each other with a garden rake every time you guys talk." Sophia rolled her eyes.

"Who's stabbing who with a garden rake?" Ray asked, as he came over to the table.

Sophia looked up at him, and said, "Nobody. We were just talking about how much you look like you hate Pete when you guys talk to each other."

Ray nodded. "True, true. He's always referencing Spongebob. ALL. THE. TIME. Do you know how annoying that gets? Whenever I say, 'Patrick,' he always yells, 'FINLAND!' I swear, one day, I'm going to run away, screaming."

Sophia shrugged. "Hey, Spongebob is stupidly funny. The next time, when the power is out, and Anthony says, 'Sophia, are you there?' I'll be like, 'I can't hear you. It's too dark in here.' Mark my words."

Ray rolled his eyes. "Now I have two people to run away from when they mention that. Thanks, Sophia."

We all just snickered a little bit, and then Ray turned towards me. "Hey, can I borrow your notes, Sonia?" he asked.

I nodded, and brought out my notes. "Speaking of that goof, where is Pete? Is he taking classes at the local clown college?" I asked.

Ray snickered, and said, "No. He's making up a test. He had a doctor's appointment on that day. So he's making it up now."

I smiled, and said, "Good. If he decides to come and annoy me about being Russian or having bright blonde hair, then I'll snap his neck. How do you not get sick of him, Ray?"

Ray shrugged. "Don't know. I guess you just learn to deal with him. I've dealt with him for over 7 years. You learn to get used to his... weird ass tendencies."

I scoffed, and said, "Yeah, easier said than done. Not easy to get used to his teasing about Russian people and vodka."

Ray snickered, and said, "I know how that feels. My grandpa is Czech, so I'm always associated with beer. I've never even tried it, although my mom pops one occasionally. Oh, and my dad is English, so I'm always associated with tea. My dad hates tea. According to him, in a very British accent, 'Tea tastes like Satan's toilet water.' It's my catchphrase now."

Sophia snickered, and said, "Isn't Pete half German? To be fair, just associate him with beer. My mom is half French and half Italian. Wine and champagne. Oh, and my dad's half English. Tea, I'm telling you. Nope, hate it, will never like it. End of story." We all just laughed, and talked about how much alcoholic stereotypes have influenced our families.

Honestly, this is the start of a bonding friendship. I'm glad that Ray and Sophia have decided to make peace, because it's long overdue. Seeing them so happy with each other just makes me so happy. I don't know, it's kind of satisfying, but overall, I think that everything's going to be okay. I just know it.

Love,

Sonia
