Dylan couldn't count how many times he came close to backing out from the date. He still couldn't believe he would end up dreading the day he was looking forward to for months.
Being one of the most sought after actors and actresses entailed them few times to actually meet personally. Dylan for one always looks forward to the time where their schedules will coincide. And it finally did.
Whenever they have time to be together, their usual routine is to have dinner then go to the movies, or if there are no good movies showing or they couldn't agree on what to watch, they would just stay home usually on Yue's house where Dylan always ends up cooking. Then Yue would read or draw and he will be watching basketball games, or they would binge-watch each other's drama offer criticisms, tease each other whenever there would be sweet scenes and they would always end up bickering.
The reality is, it doesn't really matter what they do. Their goal is to spend time with each other. It was something they had agreed upon when they decided to be best friends. Knowing how hard it is to have true friends in the industry they're in, they promised each other that they will always find time for one another. That they will support each other and that they will always, always be honest. No matter what.
So far Dylan is able to uphold all of the promises they made to each other.
Save for one.
He knows he is not totally being honest with Yue. He's not ready to tell her his secret. Maybe one day.
Maybe.
Or not.
But for now, even if he's not comfortable, even if he knows he will get hurt, even when his friends have been nagging him to man up and make his move before everything becomes late for him. He has to push through with this date.
He decided that what he feels is not important. Yue is more important. He will be a good best friend. For Yue.
So that Saturday he found himself waiting for Shen Yue to get ready. And he found himself in near frustration he's screaming like a pterodactyl.
"Shen Yue! At this rate, we will be late and it will be your fault," said an exasperated Dylan as Yue went back to her room to change her outfit again for the fifth time in a span of forty-five minutes.
"If you have helped me choose then I wouldn't have a hard time deciding what to wear. You know I need to look good tonight." Yue retorted.
"Whatever do you need to look good for? We will just watch a movie and have dinner with Jiaer Ge."
"Exactly! We are meeting with him so I have to look my absolute best." Yue said as she went out of her room, now wearing a pink skater dress layered with a denim jacket and heeled sandals.
Yue usually don't bother dressing up when it's just the two of them. She is usually in jeans, hoodies, and sneakers. Her hair tied back up, no makeup. And he always finds her beautiful.
Dylan raised an eyebrow. "Heels Yue? Really?"
"Why? They're pretty!"
"Are you seriously asking me why? Because, Little Miss, you trip wearing flat shoes. How much more with high heeled sandals? You wouldn't want to fall flat on your face in front of Jiaer Ge.
Yue rolled her eyes. "Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence Didi. And you're supposed to be my best friend. You're supposed to be on my side."
"I am. That's why as your best friend, I don't want you to embarrass yourself. White sneakers will look good on your outfit though." Dylan said with a smirk.
