He went to the regular eating place at lunch. The stone path round the back of the D-T department that led to the tennis courts with the two trees on either side. Oblivious to his detention, he went to sit by the larger tree by Zachary, who packed his own lunch, so always got their first, Bert wanted to do this at first, so he wouldn't have to wait in a line, but realised it wasn't worth it.

He ate his lunch ravenously as he was extremely hungry, but hadn't realised. After the food was down his neck he got up and heard a crackle of flame behind him, he stood up to see who was messing with fireworks when he saw something that would haunt his dreams forever.

The girl with the black hair was having a fit on the ground blood pouring out of her mouth, and the crackle of fire at her fingertips. A bright light appeared behind her and she stood up, her mouth still red with with blood.

The light flickered and through came a monster with eyes of fire and a body of rock. All of those days of training didn't do a thing. His dad said that the first time you see one, you always freeze.

After a few seconds of bewilderment, he was knocked to the side by a large rock hand. The girl yelling to the thing to kill him, it turned away from a squirrel it had stepped on and towards Bert.

All of his training kicked in, in one crucial moment. He felt fire running through his fingers, the pain of magic almost too much to bear, almost. He could feel all of the hair on his arms singeing and burning to a crisp, his clothes would follow soon, as well as the hair on his head.

He launched at the creature and was wrapped around its neck within seconds, he hit the beast furiously multiple times. His arms were a flash of  light that were buzzing from the speed.

After a few seconds of disbelief the girl ordered the creature to shake him off, after he was on the floor he looked at his hands, now just a bloody lump with a few straps of flesh attached to it. He knew a healing spell, but it would take too long.

He suddenly realised that he could not cast any spells without any fingers so he muttered afew words of healing and he saw afew bones come to life. They grew about 6 inches and muscles started to wrap around it.

He felt the power running through every part of his body, he muttered a few words, completely meanless to him and everybody else. He threw himself at the creature, landed, looked back and noticed a big hole right in the middle of the creatures chest, dripping with molten rock.

The beast dropped to the ground with a thud that could be heard from the staff room. He turned around to look at the girl, a million thoughts in his mind whizzing about like bees. When his head was fully turned he saw that the girl was no longer there.

He turned around and there were two bodies on the floor, neither of them the black haired girl, he didn't want to know who either of them were, so he didnt look. As he stumbled forward he was met with terrified glances and people parting to let him through.

He knew that his life would never be the same again. He was on the floor a few seconds later, knocked out cold. Those seconds felt like a lifetime to him, a lifetime that would never end.

An ambulance arrived on the scene and went through the regular resuscitation procedures, though they did it slowly and without much jump in their step, as they knew it was not worth trying to bring a dead body back to life.

A big black van was called and the two were declared legally dead. They were taken away. Bert never knew who they were. But in many circumstances, I think that was the best thing for him. The black van took the bodies away.

The official story was they were killed by a rock slide ( which then again isn't really lying.) Nobody dug any deeper as by where the two bodies was found there was a big pile of rocks. Bert's father had many friend in high positions so it was covered up easily.

The witnesses had a few memory spells put on them, the memories of the creature was replaced with images of the two people who died being struck in the head with rocks.

The hardest part about all of this was that Bert had to pretend he was dead too, his father knew that it was unsafe for them now, so it was the best thing for them. You see, Bert's official name was Bert Ackeran. But that was not what Zachary had known him by.

He has been called many names for his own safety ( the most ridiculous of which was Bob Dyllan.) His most recent one was Ben Adams. He knew that it was wrong to lie but his father told him that they have to do it for their own safety.

He supposed that he would probably never have anybody call him by his real name other than his father. He supposed living was okay if it was good for everybody. But then he thought that that was how politicians think.

He didnt want to be a politician but he realised he had the right mindset for it. He was so swallowed up in his thoughts that he forgot to say goodbye to Zachary. This was something that he regretted for a long time. But he would soon forget.

If you have a good idea of what will happen next and want to know what happens then I suggest you tune in in a  couple of days for the next chapter of Hellfire.

"nothing" she said, "nothing can stop me now, the Ackeran boy or his father. Nothing!"
