Chapter 18-Happiness

Today is August 27,2012,my one year anniversary with Jc. I've never been happier. We practically live with eachother. I'm so excited for today. Jc said he's planning out a special surprise for tonight. Honestly,I'm a little frightened. I mean last time he said 'it's a surprise' he took me to a 5 hour alien movie thing. Today he told me to hang out with Ashley all day and not come home once. I didn't mind hanging with Ash. She's my best friend of course. I finally woke up. I looked over my shoulder,no Jc. I sighed. I checked my phone. 9:35. Decent timing. I got a text from Jc,
Morning my beautiful:-*Today you and Ash are going for a spa day,my treat,whatever you want,it's yours. I won't be talking to you at all today because I'm planning out tonight..So absolutely positively do not call me or come home.(she's in a hotel,idk why) I want you to have fun with Ash,okay? No worrying about tonight or about anything. I will see you to tonight at 8:30. I won't tell you where. I will send you clues through the day so you can find me. Good luck,and I Love You.
I smiled. I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I threw my hair into a messy bun and came out. I wasn't going to bother showering or putting on makeup because they will just mess it up anyway. I walked out of my bathroom and put on sweatpants and and a baggy tank top over a bandeau. I walked to the elevator while texting Ash.

A-Wassup
N-I'm ready for today!!
A-Same! When u want me to come get U?
N-Like..now...I'm in the lobby😂
A-oh lol.KK,I'm coming! B there in 2.
I walked over to the lobby couch and plopped down.
"Sleepy head..." Someone whispered as gently rubbing my arm. I shook myself awake. I blindly scanned the room. It was Ashley.
"Hey." I whispered as rubbing my eyes.
"WAKE UP WE GOIN FOR A SPA DAY!" She yelled.
"Ash! Shut up! We're in public!" I whisper-yelled. She shrugged. We got up and headed out the lobby door. "BYE MARVIN!" I yelled to the front desk. I walked over to Ashley's car and slumped in. "Dude,you need a new car,this one sucks!" I yelled to Ash.
"Thanks!" She said sarcastically. She pulled out of the hotel parking lot. I reached over and blasted our favourite song from my IPhone,Hollaback Girl by Gwen Steffoni. We screamed the words as the song repeated all the way to the spa.
"WE ARE HERE!" I screamed.
"I know,I was driving!" She said as hopping out. I hopped out and followed her. The spa had white,marble counters with girls dressed in purple t-shirts and white pants.
/after the spa/
"Do you need help picking out an outfit?" She asked as hopping into her car.
"What do you think?" I said sarcastically. We drove silently back to my place. I got out and unlocked the door. I stepped in. "Ah," I sighed. "Good to be back." Ashley stepped in behind me and rolled her eyes. I ran downstairs and showered. When I got out I wrapped a towel around my hair,and another around me. "ASHLEY! COME HELP ME!" I yelled from downstairs. She slowly walked down. I sat on my bed. She walked up to my closet as her eyes went wide. She held up a red,flowy dress with floral quarter sleeves.
"This one!" She held it closer to me. I took it out of her hands and walked to my bathroom to change. When I was finished I walked out to see Ashley going through my closet.
"Ahem!" I coughed. She stopped.
"Woah," she paused. "Nat,you look beautiful!" She whispered. I blushed. I walked into my bathroom and applied concealer,foundation,blush,light eyeshadow,light pink lipgloss,eyeliner,and mascara. I blow dried my hair and thought about what to do with it. I decided to braid the hair that lied against my cheekbone,and straightened the rest. I came out of the bathroom. "Nat,I'm astonished." She stood there with an open mouth.
"Oh stop it." I waved my hand through the air. I walked upstairs as Ashley followed behind me,staring at my dress. I stopped midway. "Would you cut that out?" I begged. She shrugged. I reached the kitchen as my phone buzzed. It was Jc.
Hello gorgeous! I can't wait to see you! But first,you must find me. Go and eat some dinner before you come. Once you have eaten,go to the place where I took you on our first date. There will be a clue there. Until later,I love you.
I walked over to the fridge,which was practically empty. I gobbled down pizza from yesterday. When I was finished I wiped the pizza sauce from my fingers. I washed the dishes as Ashley sat hazily staring at the tv. When I was finished I walked down to my closet and picked out red strappy heals. I slammed my foot into the shoes and tightened them. I grabbed my tiny black leather purse and threw my phone and just in case,lipgloss. I walked upstairs and stared at Ashley.
"Okay,I'm going. Do I look okay?" I asked.
"I'm not even going to answer that." She smiled. I blushed. I walked down the stairs and out the door and into my car. I drove to the park in the middle of town. I got out and followed the walking path that led to an old oak tree with a small bench underneath. I searched for a clue,and then found one in the crack of the bench. It read,
I'm glad you remembered! I can't believe that it's been a year since I first took you here. Now I want you to go to the place where I first said I Love You. I'll see you soon!
Well this will be difficult. I doubt he meant at the hotel. And I doubt he meant at my place. WAIT! I REMEMBER! I followed the path back to my car and drove to Starbucks. I walked in and people stared. I wondered why. Oh right. I'm dressed up enough to go to a wedding. I looked down. I walked up to the counter.
"Has anyone seen Jc?" I asked. We've been here so many times they know us.
"Yes!" A girl from the back yelled. It was Anna,the girl who always takes our orders. "He left you this." She said as handing me a little piece of paper.
This is your last clue! Go to the place where we almost drowned. I love you. See you soon!
I thanked Anna and headed back out to my car. I almost twisted my ankle when I was getting in. This is why I don't wear heals. I drove to the beach where me and Jc almost drowned. Our boat tipped and drifted away,and then there was this huge storm which sucked because I'm a terrible swimmer. I arrived at the beach as the sun was setting. I hopped out and saw a trail of rose pedals. It's a good thing it's not windy! I took one step in the sand as it filled my shoes. I rolled my eyes and took them off. I walked along the sand until I saw Jc. Sitting on a huge blanket with candles,wine,and more roses. He saw me and smiled. He got up and walked closer. I walked up to him and threw my arms around his neck.
"Happy anniversary." He whispered over my shoulder.
"Happy anniversary" I whispered back.
