Jason banged his head repeatedly on the steering of the rented jeep, he had received a message from a private number tipping him that Rose would be operating on the Canadian borders and he had flown all the way from America informing no one about his intentions not even Sarah and he had been wise to do so because he had gotten there and found the place empty of any trace, it was either he was too late or he had been tricked and he had foolishly believed it, he prayed to God it wasnt the latter.

His phone pinged on the seat beside him, signifying a new message, he picked up the phone wearily, hoping it wasnt Sarah asking him where he was again. He opened his eyes widely as he saw the private number again, he quickly read the message

Sorry friend, but Im afraid you missed her but dont worry life gives second chances. Youll find her in aclub named Midnight downtown. Better hurry, life doesnt give third chances.

He placed the phone back with excitement, this was his last chance. He had to see her again, he quickly put the gear in drive and drove quickly to the bar. He arrived and came down from the car, walking towards the shady looking building, he didnt like it a bit but if this was where she was then so be it. He entered the building with slow steps making sure no one noticed him, the stench of alcohol and drugs filled his nose and he grimaced, loud music blasted from the speakers and strippers danced on a pole at the far edge of the room. His eyes scanned the area but he couldnt find her, maybe she hadnt arrived yet, he walked towards the bar and sat down

"What do you want?" the scantily dressed blonde woman behind the bar asked

"Just a beer" she raised a brow in surprise but didn't ask any questions as she went to get his beer. He looked around again but still no sign of her, the woman brought his beer and he took a sip, he waited for a full ten minutes before becoming frustrated and angry, he had been played again. He was ready to leave when his eyes landed on a figure coming through the door, he could recognise her even in the dark hoodie she wore, it was hard to believe that after four years and all he had heard and seen about her, he still had feelings for her, feelings for the sake of his career he had to push down. Her eyes scanned the area before they landed on him and her posture became rigid, she remembered, she quickly composed herself and went to sit down at the far end of the bar, far away from him, a man in a hoodie followed behind her and sat next to her and said something before she replied, jealousy boiled in his veins but he had to control it, he wouldnt lie, he had Italian blood in his body, he was a possessive and jealous man by nature but he couldnt let it control him.

He watched her for 20 minutes, slowly sipping his beer, the woman behind the bar giving him strange looks once in a while. Finally she stood up and walked towards the bathrooms, he took another sip of his beer before standing up and following her. He walked towards the dark hallway, hoping to catch a glimpse of her

"Looking for someone officer?" a voice said behind him as he turned to look at a pair of cool brown eyes, she had removed the top of her hoodie revealing her wavy black hair, black hair that had been spread across his pillow four years ago, her pink lips were pursed into a frown and her hands were crossed at her chest, her brown skin showed lightly under the light, she was still as beautiful as he had remembered her

"As you can see, I'm off duty" he replied

"Yes, in Canada, any purpose for your trip"

"As a matter of fact, there is and I happened to find it" she scowled

"What do you want officer? How did you find me?"

"To talk" he said, deliberately not answering her second question

"About what?"

"Everything, I want to know how and why you ended up like this. I want to know everything" she laughed coldly before replying

"That is impossible officer, I owe you no explanations and no reasons, and you have no business in my life whatsoever"

"Yes, I do" he replied as he walked closer to her trapping her between the wall, her eyes growing defensive before he continued

"I became involved the moment you left my bed four years ago, I became involved the moment you smiled at me in that arcade, I became involved the moment I kissed your soft pink lips that night I want to help you and I want you to let me help you. You're unhappy, I can see that. Let me..."

"That's enough officer!!" she interrupted angrily "I didn't come here for a pity talk, if you have nothing more to say then I'll be on my way since youre not here to arrest me" she walked a few feet away from him before he dragged back her hand

"Before you leave, answer this question for me, when we slept together four years ago, did it mean anything, anything at all to you?" she gazed back at him with hard eyes before they softened and then hardened again

"No. It was a simple one night stand. A terrible mistake on my part" she replied before dragging her hand away and walking away from him, leaving a broken and stubborn heart behind.
