Chapter twenty three

Finally, Gaby is out of the hospital. We didn't have to pay any bills because of Clark, because of my super hero. Agnes 100k was returned to her and now she's finally at peace. Her son is perfectly alright. Gaby survived it.

It has been a month since Gaby was in the hospital so we all decided to plan a "welcome home" party for him. We decorated the living room. We used Gaby's favorite colors, his toys balloons and with some ribbons. Looking round, I saw the place was beautiful.

We heard a car moving in and I peeped through the window. It was Agnes!

We switched off all light so we could surprise him. We stood behind chairs and curtains. Clark's siblings also came. His grandma couldn't make it because of her old age.

Immediately the door opened, little Gaby stepped in. "Why is everywhere dark mommy", he asked Agnes innocently.

"Gaby just go in", she pushed him forward a bit. Even my sister wasn't aware of the surprise.

He got in, managed himself over to where the switch was and put the light on.

"Surprise!!", we all yelled

"Mommy, the house is beautiful", he smiled looking round at the decorations.

"Grandpa", he ran and hugged him.

"Gaby, say thank you to everyone", he said carrying him up.

"Thank you everyone", he waved at us smiling.

We all went to the dinning room where our dinner was served. We ate the delicious meal made by clark and I. The food was really spicy, I don't know why, maybe because Clark was the one who really cooked it.

"The meal was fantastic",clearing the dishes, I heard dad compliment.

"Indeed it was", Agnes added.

I left for the kitchen with the dishes leaving Clark with the rest. I really wanted them to know how kind he is.
By the time I was back they were done talking.

"Baby, hope you're not tensed with their questions", I whispered in his ears. "No, not at all. I love them already", he said smiling at me.

That's great!

I was just about to pass a slice of watermelon to Clark when I felt something. "What is it hon", concerned Clark asked.

"I feel something bad is about to happen love", I said looking straight into his eyes, then to dad and sis. Just then, we heard a commotion at the gate.

"What's that?", dad asked

"I really don't know dad, let me go and check", I excused myself. "I will go with you", Clark said holding my hand.

"I want to see leah you bastard, let me in", I heard someone yell.

Who the fuck is that!

The more we came closer to the gate, the better view I could make from the guy.

JACKSON!

"Let him in", I ordered the gateman.

"Yes! you wernt invited", I said coldly. "So there is a party or gathering going on", he said giving an evil smirk.

Clark just stood watching us. Maybe he was waiting for him to do something stupid first before making any move.

"Yes, a family gathering", I spat back. "So what the hell are you doing here because last I checked, you aren't family".

"And why is Clark here. You just said it's a family gathering right", he questioned like he had a right to.

"Sorry to burst your bubbles but yes, Clark is now family", I hissed.

"How dare you", jackson yelled trying to run over Clark but as a fighter that he is, he dodged making jack fall. "Cous, I don't want to hurt you. Please don't do anything crazy", Clark pleaded.

"Jackson please behave yourself and act like a man not a kid", I yelled so loud angrily.

"But he stole you from me".

"No he didn't. You never treated me right jackson. Moreover you broke up with me not the other way round".

"That's the point leah", he calmed down holding my hands. "please I didn't mean the break up, believe me".

"Can you hear yourself jack. Do you know how many times you broke up with me. Do you think my heart is made of stone. Am human and deserve some respect".

"You think you can steal what's mine and be free. No way. I will be back for you, traitor", he yelled throwing a blow at Clark

They threw some blows at eachother while I just stood there watching like an idiot.

"You have to quit blaming others for your problems cous. I have never stolen anything from you", Clark who was already pissed off with what was happening pushed jack away from him.

"First you stole my mom's love and attention, now you have stolen the only woman who cared for me and has been with me since university. Are you this cruel Clark".

"I never stole anyone cous. Aunty ciara loves you so much. Too bad she has been in the states working to make you comfortable here in Nigeria. She wants the best for you, trust me".

"I swear, you will pay for everything you have made me passed through. Do you know how painful it was for me as a kid. You always took everyone's attention. You were the best in everyone's eyes. You had the spot light. Every girl wanted to be yours ever since primary school. Even when you left for the state with aunty, they all missed you and behaved like I didn't exist".

"And you never told me how you felt till now cous. You kept all these to yourself".

"Just know I won't let you happy. Not now, not ever", with that he stormed out.

"Who was that leah", Agnes asked.

"It was jackson", I replied and just then we heard a crash. We all ran outside just to see jackson and his motorbike both laying on the floor.

Jackson just had an accident!
