Chapter fifteen

"Dad, say something", I said holding his hands.

"Who's clark?", he finally spoke

"Uhm, clark is the son of Mr Henry Williams. Jackson's cousin", I concluded.

"I won't say anything till I meet him", he said. With his bowl of fruit salad, he left for his room.

Sis, Is dad mad at me?

"It's better you leave him for now, I promise, I will talk to him", she assured me

Ok sis. Thank you.

"It's even better you told us now because he will definitely find out and you know dad, he will be angry", she said teasing me

Yeah, you're right.. I remember when he found out jackson was my boyfriend back in school, he was so mad at me.

"You see. And what happened with the relationship. He broke up with you because of a foolish reason. See, dad wants the best for you, for us.. Take a look at what happened to me, Gaby's father left me when I was just 3weeks gone without saying a word to me", she said as she ate a spoonful of her fruit salad.

I get your point sis, but Clark is different. I know dad wants the best, but clark is way different from the rest.

"And how sure are you leah. Dad has to prove it first. He doesn't want what happened to me to repeat itself", she added

What if I say am Clark's first girlfriend. 

"That can't be true. How can you be his first. Stop trying to cover up for him. Let dad decide", she spat out

But dad is not the one that will marry him na. I know it's a taboo in our land for a girl to give birth in her father's house, but clark is different.

"Leah, don't be stubborn. I know you love him but-", she was till talking when I said, "OK fine, dad will decide for him as the baby that I will always be", I stood up and returned the bowl of ice cream into the fridge.

"Won't you finish your cup of ice cream and cookies", she asked concerned

"I will but in my room", I said leaving her and Gaby.

I got to my room and banged the door really hard. I was fraustrated. Why can't dad just say what he wants. Must there be obstacles in a relationship. He should understand all men are not the same or was he like that when mom was still alive.

I dropped the cookies and cup of ice cream on the bed table. I was still in deep thoughts when I heard a knock.

"Come in", I said

I watched as the door opened as my dad walked in and closed the door quietly.

"What do you want?", I asked turning my face away.

"Leah my dear, you know I want the best for you and your sister. You both are my only kids. Losing your mom was very painful, but if I lose you both, I will die of high bp", he said as he walked to my bed and sat down.

"Our family is known for discipline. Agnes your sister gave birth in my house, do you want the same for yourself?", he asked me

No dad!

"That's my point. Agnes suffered heartbreak during her pregnancy and almost lost her life during delivery. I don't want that same mistake to happen to you", he said.

"Do you love clark?", dad asked

Yes daddy, I do.. I love him so much.

"If that's the case, invite him over. I have to know him. So if you can do that I guess I will be able to accept him as your boyfriend", he concluded.

"Are you for real dad", I said jumping on him. He nodded and hugged me. "Thank you so much daddy. I love you", I said hugging him tight.

"Anything for my little angel", he said pecking me on my hair. "You can feast on your ice cream and cookies and now", he smiled and left my room.

I grabbing my cookies and ice cream and started feasting back on them happily. 

Soon enough I finished the ice cream. It was so delicious. I took the cup, wore my slippers and ran downstairs. I went to the kitchen and washed the dishes.

"I can see someone is so happy. Tell me what's making you smile because a while ago, you were sad", Agnes said as she opened the fridge to take water.

"Am I not allowed to be happy in my father's house", I said blushing.

"Did I say so", she laughed.

"Well, maybe you didn't. But your expression said so", I said joining the laughing section. "Well, dad just said I should invite clark over so he will get to know him", I concluded.

Wow. That's good news. You see why I said you should be patient with dad.

"Ehn, don't come and start preaching here oo", I laughed hugging her. You and dad are the best in the world. I pecked her and left for my room.

This book is getting interesting and I can't even say if it's coming to an end😉😉 or just starting🙃🙃🙃
