19) The Day's Fortune

(Y/N) dragged her heavy luggage from the carriage and puffed out a harsh rush of air. Her father came from behind her, carrying his luggage using his black magic. (Y/N) rolled her eyes.

"You know you're acting a little too obvious, dad."

"Oh, please, dear. Corona is full of mysterious things like your... Shadow thingy."

"Her name is Shadin." Shadin came from under (Y/N) and circled around her father on the ground. Her father looked down and tried to kick Shadin away, but she quickly moved away and back (Y/N) snickering.

"Well she's a pain in the behind."

"So are you."

"Fair enough. C'mon," he uses his black magic to lift (Y/N)'s luggage and went inside of their new home. She sighed and followed behind.

(Y/N) pounded the sign into the ground. "Potions, Lucky Charms, Medicines and Fortunes~" it read. She went inside of her shaded booth and waited for her first customer. It wasn't too long before a tall, dark skinned man came and sat down on the chair in front of the booth and oood.

"Welcome to Fortunato's Misfortune! The place of... Well, what you read on the sign." (Y/N) chuckled. "What do you want?"

"My fortune please!" He said excitedly. (Y/N) smirked and looked at Shadin. Shadin laughed mischievously and went back into hiding. (Y/N) brought out a stack of cards and spread them across the table. "Choose wisely, strong one."

He took a second and gazed at all of the cards. He finally chooses one off to the left. (Y/N) picked up said card and flipped it over, grazing her fingers softly across it. She smiled.

"Your future is a good one. You will be surrounded by the people you love. You will have many riches, but you'll learn to humble yourself for others. As long as you keep in touch with your friends, I see greatness in your future." She smiled proudly and with a flick of her wrist, the card vanished. The man, bright eyed and smiling widely, shook her hand.

"Thank you so much!!! I've got to tell Rapunzel!" He ran off towards the castle.

"T-the princess?!?" (Y/N) stood up, aghast. He had already ran off too far. She slumped down in her chair. "I hope I impress her, Shadin." She looked at her mysterious figure, who only shrugged her shoulders.

"What you seek is only sexual desire, but I'm afraid that's not going happen, not with your past. I apologise." She made the card vanish and the man ran away crying. She gathers up the cards and shuffles them. She felt a presence and smiled. "Fortunato's Misfortune! The place o-"

"It's me!!! And I brought some friends with me!" The man from far before said. A man with luscious brown hair walked up, along with a golden blonde and a black haired boy, much younger than the rest of them. Maybe around (y/n)'s age.

"P-princess Rapunzel! I'm honored that you are interested in my services." She stood up to bow. She looked up and winked. "I'm guessing you want a fortune?" She looked at boy who rolled his eyes with a light blush on his face.

"Of course! So you're an actual fortune teller?"

"Learned it from my mother and father." (Y/N) laid out the cards. "Who wants to go first?"

"I'll go first." The black haired boy stepped up and sat down.

"Choose a card, Freckles." (Y/N) said. Varian put up his hand.

"I actually want to ask you a few questions, see if you're legit or not." The boy said, a bit condescending. (Y/N) rolled her eyes and gathered up the cards.

"Ask away."

"Is there anything here that's backed up by... Science, somehow?"

"What ever do you mean?"

"Are there scientific explanations to these fortunes? Are you using astrology or something to support these predictions?"

(Y/N) thought for a moment. "Yes, astrology plays into the picture just a bit. Scientific reasoning, however, does not. It's all in fate. I just use my magic and what I've been taught to tell people about their future."

"Magic huh?" He said putting magic is air quotes.

"No, not 'magic'," she said also putting magic is air quotes. "Magic. Special magic. Powerful even."

"So then why are you not using it for good?"

"Is telling people about what fate has in store for them not doing good? Look, you're very adorable. But I have customers to attend to. Either you seek your fortune or leave." She scolded him. He rolled his eyes and got up from the seat.

"Any of you want to try?" (Y/N) laid all of the card back out.

"Yes, please!" She sat down excitedly, the brunette leaned against the back of the chair. (Y/N) did the same old routine of laying out the cards.

"Any card, your majesty~ Just choose wisely."

Rapunzel chose a card from the middle. (Y/N) hummed and turned the card over, grazing it. She smiled

"What a beautiful future! Once it's your time, which is soon, you will be a fantastic queen. All of Corona will be at your service." Rapunzel sighed in relief. (Y/N) expression changed. "... But there is danger that lies ahead. Blue and black rocks will strike Corona once again, only this time it's... Someone. Someone will cause this... A blue haired, powerful individual." Rapunzel looked at the card panicked. The card disintegrated into thin air.

"... Cassandra." She whispered. Silence whisped through the air.

"... Well, I think my services are done here. I'm sorry, princess." (Y/N) put her hand on the blonde's shoulder.

"It's... Fine. At least we know a little more about what Cassandra's up to. Come on guys." Rapunzel walked off, the tall man and the brunette following behind and yelling 'but I want my fortune!' and arguing. The black haired boy was about to walk off until (Y/N) snapped for his attention.

"Hey, Freckles." He turned around, one eyebrow raised.

"I hope fate comes around for us to meet again," she held out her hand. He hesitantly shook it. She breathed in and smiled. "Varian, Corona's great alchemist." Varian pulled his hand away.

"H-how did you-" he stuttered. She winked and pointed to his hand, which had a business card.

"Call me sometime, and maybe we can debate about this some more. I love a good argument." Varian hesitantly nodded and walked off. He looked at the business card. It looked as mysterious as her.

Maybe he would take that debate offer.
