Outcast

3rd Chapter

  Lyra leaved her room in the midnight, assisted by her adoptive father who is waiting on the main corridor of the academy. Lyra was guided to the library. She will be using the portal for tge first time. Usually she will leave the academy by an escort, but for this mission she will use the portal for safe purposes. For her target will not know her tracts.

  Lyra bid goodbye to Ryland. Then she enters the portal. As she step inside it the other side become sunset. Flame colored sky greeted her eyes. Smell of salty breeze through the winds. She roam her eyes to her surrounding, as she recognized the environment she immediately take cover to a nearest tree and change into her proper attire to do her mission. She disguised herself as a nurse. She was landed by the portal to a hospital. A two-story building but not that big just big enough to acomodate medium size town.

  As she entered the back door of the hospital which is also the emergency ward, Lyra use the stairs to climb to the floor above. The first floor of the building was build to acomodate the emergency cases while the second floor was for consultation and offices.

  She checked every door she can acces. To look for her target but no luck. She then go down the emergency ward. As she stepping down to the last step of the stair. She heard a loud voice coming from the ward and a commotion is brewing. Looks like an emergency case accident came.

  She take a peek on the commotion, a boy who she thinks in his fifteenth year is unconscious and bleeding. As she looked at the boy he is nearly going to die. She knows it, because she can feel it. Then a red haired doctor rushed to the side of the boy and start doing his job. She watch the scene infront of her as she distance herself. As the doctor stitch the wounds of the boy he then began to have a cardiac arrest. The doctor then try to revive the boy but as the seconds tick Lyra can feel and also smell the almost nearly death of the child.

  "That boy will be dead in any minute now", she whispered still watching the scene. She then watch the very familiar move of the chest of the boy. She knew it like the back of her hand. The last breath of a dying person. She watch the other nurses leave as they will prepare for the papers of the kid but the doctor who rushed to the boy stay still. Lyra watch him. She also noticed that the doctor still did not announce the time of death.

  The doctor then walk closely to the body of the child and touch its forehead, she carefully watch him after that touch, for some reason the boy who died came back to life. Lyra can't believe to what she saw. Then the doctor act like he is shock on what had happen, then called the nurse. He then leaves. Lyra still can't believe to what have happened. She feel and smell the death already claimed the life of that boy but that doctor just touched the boy and it came back to life.

  Being disturbed to what befall infront of her, she just remembered on what purpose she is there. She followed the doctor who she have witness. The doctor entered a room. Looks like it is his office.  She also entered the room she observe the doctor to be now seated on his chair. Since the doctor is not facing the door he never noticed her. But when she stepped, he noticed her.

  " Oh, sorry for not noticing you. How may I help you?", the red head doctor asked Lyra. But Lyra remained silent. The doctor suddenly became alert when he noticed that he is now surrounded by a black smoke. "What the-- Nurse hurry call somebody there is a f--",  but before he finished his sentence he drop his body to the ground lying there lifeless. Lyra make sure that he died, she walk near to the doctor and checked if he is really dead. When she confired it. She decided to leave. But before she move an inch she was grab by force in her wrist and tackled to the ground. Being alarmed by her situation she then released an amount of miasma that can killed the whole hospital. But an unknown forced nullify her.

  "Who are you?", the doctor asked in a serious tone. Lyra still don't answer. She still remained pin on the ground in an awkard position. "You try to kill me, who send you here?", he continue to asked but no answer.

  "Your an ability user aren't you?", he then said. He noticed that Lyra give an alarming look in her eyes. " As I observed, you can use a high quality of miasma, are you a poison type?", he continue to blabber. But Lyra kicked him but he manage to dodge it.

  "How came your alive?", Lyra asked finally. He only smiled at her, a smile that make her somewhat blush. "So you can talk.", he said while leaning on his table. " Answer me, I checked on you and I smell your life to leave out your body then why are you still alive!", she angrily asked.

  " You smell my death?", he asked while absent mindly doing frown. Then a realization came to him. "Your my counterpart?", he whisper.

  " Counterpart? ", also the realization flooded her. "That make sense he revive that boy", she murmured. But as they are being dumbfounded by each others ability. Someone broke the window and get inside the office and rushed to the direction of Lyra. And stab her through her chest exactly to her heart. 

  Being shocked by the sudden assault, Lyra did not react as faster as she supposed to be as a defense. The doctor catch her before she land to the ground and killed the criminal. She was stunned as she see the ability of the doctor infront of her in fighting. As the weapon in her chest continues to linger in her body little by little her vision is eaten by dark dots.

  "Hey, don't close your e-

  But before she hear his voice she devoured by darkness. She shut her eyes.
